We recently connected with Tommy Guns and have shared our conversation below.

Tommy , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I learned how to make music just basically by instinct foreal, I use to just randomly blurt out and start freestyling, it wasn’t good but it was just something I’d do. I had a friend who use to record in his closet and he just invited me over one day, and from there I actually knew I can actually make music if I tried. I could’ve been more consistent when the opportunity came around I would’ve been way farther than I am now, at first it was me trying to be stable and still live the life I want at the same time that was slowing me down.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I start promoting my music publicly when I came home from doing a year, I had applied for endless jobs, ain’t get none. The one I got fired me 2 weeks later cause of my back ground check. So I was like fuck it ima just do this, and it started working. I’m still getting paid from songs I did when I first started off my distrokid. I done interacted with several artist that were already in position like sauce walka, skippa tha flippa, jackboy, felt like they was tryna get them some petty money up off me tho. The best thing about me being me is I just do me, iont really get into what other people say or what they think. I just do me. I don’t copy or paste.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

It’s no better feeling then putting something out into the public and getting positive feedback. You know sometimes it be like what if they clown me or don’t like it so you be kind of sketchy. Once you realize they messin wit it builds self esteem. I feel like hearing somebody say my music crank or this song like that the best part about it

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I built my audience through just posting music, I did a feature with rylo and it helped me the most. I was getting free promo from blogs, trollers, free video reactions from YouTubers. Just new fans from left and right. My only regret is not capitalizing off it.
