We recently connected with Tomeka Richard and have shared our conversation below.

Tomeka, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?

What I admire about my mother and what she did right was raise myself and my siblings up in church and not only taught us, but showed us about God, Faith and living right. My mother was an extraordinary example of a strong, nurturing, faithful, God fearing and prayerful woman. My mother showed me what family is about and she was so peaceful and loving. I was raised by a phenomenal woman!

Tomeka, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have always been athletic and have worked out most of my life. I started taking it severely serious in 2017, a few years after losing my mother and becoming very depressed and feeling hopeless. I saw my body make many changes, and I made a decision to start living a more healthy lifestyle. I work out faithfully, even after becoming pregnant in 2022, I worked out my entire pregnancy up until the week that I gave birth to my baby girl.

I would always purchase different name brand fitness attire and always received many compliments on my outfits and style. I then decided to start my own clothing brand and focus on a fitness brand. I took my time with it before launching because I wanted to make sure that the quality and style set itself apart from all other brands in the fitness industry. I am very proud of the success of my first launch and am now preparing to launch my next release. Fit Geek is also associated with my initial clothing brand, “Cree’Le.” The Fit Geek brand only gets better and better so stay tuned for the new launch and whats to come! The Fit Geek brand will also be coming out with different supplements and my goal is to open up a gym in the near future.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is actually seeing my visions and hard work come to life and watching them continuously grow. It’s living proof for me that I can create anything that I put my mind and hard work to.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

The best example that illustrates my resilience is me losing my mother to cancer in 2014 and becoming severely depressed. I then felt hopeless and couldn’t focus on anything what so ever. My mother was my everything and I couldn’t see how I was going to get out of it. I now feel and see that the deep pain I experienced pushed me into something greater.
