Hi Tomasina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Indigenous Intentions is a community-based business that was cultivated from having to provide fundraising dollars for a social justice march. I designed and created my first collection of cause bracelets and it made an impact. I continued to grow with my community and made my business a cause brand that came from a place of advocacy. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Black & Missing Foundation, and Environmental causes are near and dear to the Black and Indigenous community. 100% of the proceeds of each cause jewelry collection goes directly to the organization.

During the pandemic, I became physically, mentally, and emotionally depleted. I learned that is a natural occurrence that happens when you are involved in activism, advocacy, and community work. I took a step back to re-examine my energy level and my community needs. I met Anulika because our communities intersected and I tapped back into my Alternative Medicine & Naturopathic background from my higher education and culture. It was so healing to collaborate with The Flower Plugg and Anulika helped greatly throughout the process of creating my herbal smokes. Then came Rest is Resistance and it all clicked. Going back to the Indigenous Moon Ways and monitoring my feminine cycle (as my grandmother taught me) I knew exactly when to rest and work. It was a beautiful pairing of both my cultures it is the foundation of Healing Hokte. Indigenous Intentions & Healing Hokte work hand in hand. Rest, Resist, Heal for our community.

Our Herbal Kisses at Healing Hokte are an herbal blend that can help with menstrual moon issues, anxiety, depression, and much needed rest! Plant mixtures grown or harvested have been used within my Native American a (Indigenous) for ceremonial or medicinal purposes. This has been a practice for centuries as a medicine with cultural and spiritual importance.
