We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Todd Taylor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Todd, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I’ve been in sales, marketing, and video production for over 30 years and have watched the media landscape change tremendously. My business career started in North Hollywood, California, when I went to work in a retail, office products, xerox copy, and printing company right out of high school. By the time I was twenty-one, I’d become the vice president of that company.
At age 23, my entrepreneurial journey began when I launched my first business. Although I was successful in servicing my clients and making a lot of money, I lacked the discipline and guidance to keep things going. Couple that with the fact that I was working and partying seven days a week it had become apparent that I couldn’t continue down this road if I wanted to make it to 25. So, I planned a one-year sabbatical and moved across the country to York, Pennsylvania, where I ended up staying for over 27 years.
I’ve been around advertising, marketing, television, and radio most of my life. My father was an on-air talent for radio and television, and I can still remember watching him on the evening news, in black and white, I might add, doing the news report and then pitching a sponsor’s product live. I guess you could say that marketing is in my blood.
Now, after two divorces, I find myself starting all over again. I’m a partner in a small start-up digital marketing company, and I’m launching a business coaching company called Taylor’d Results Coaching. My passion is helping other entrepreneurs, business leaders, and owners avoid the many mistakes I made along the way by following processes shared with me by many mentors.
I can honestly say that I’ve lived this quote from Winston Churchill – “Success isn’t final, failure isn’t fatal; it’s the courage to continue that counts.”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It was while I was living in Pennsylvania that it all clicked. I started a video production company after working for a television station that we eventually sold to a national conglomerate. Shortly after I hung out my video production shingle, I landed a three-week gig that turned into almost two years of work for NCP Marketing out of Canton, Ohio. The product was the best-selling workout series ever, TAE-BO. That is where I learned from some of the brightest minds in the marketing world. I was the one that edited all the infomercials, commercials, promotional videos, and 117 workouts. My proudest moment was when the ball dropped in Times Square, welcoming the 2000 new year; my commercial for TAE-BO aired on the big screen and was seen by billions of people worldwide.
After that successful venture, I added a DVD authoring and replication business to our video production services. That is when I became a millionaire—riding that wave for over 12 years.
Now, I’ve taken all the knowledge and insight and shared it with others through my business coaching company.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Funny how life happens sometimes. It was in 2011 that I had just launched a digital marketing company. Our focus was on organic online growth, utilizing six key strategies – Market Research, Brand Identity, Website design and development, Social Media Management, SEO, and Video. The company had all the makings for success a fantastic team, the right processes, and systems, yet it bombed. I had sunk a few hundred thousand dollars of my own money into getting the company off the ground, yet we couldn’t get the prospects to buy into this new way of marketing. This setback was a major blow to me and one of the biggest failures I’ve ever experienced. So, after three years of trying to make it work, I decided it was time to consolidate my losses and move on.
That was when my new wife and I decided to pull up our stakes and move to Belize. The plan was to retire there eventually. As luck would have it, after being there just three short years, my second wife and I separated and eventually divorced. I moved back to the states after losing everything I had. But, I was pleasantly surprised with how the advertising and marketing landscape had changed. We were right! Everyone is now using those six tactics my team, and I developed for organic online growth. So that is when I got together with my current partner and started a digital marketing company. This new company has provided its clients with tremendous growth over these past couple of years.
Many people recently asked me, with my years of experience, why don’t I start coaching other entrepreneurs and business people. Helping businesses and people grow through marketing is one of my passions, so stepping into the coaching scene seemed like a perfect fit. In less than a month, I now have four new coaching clients and a few more prospects on the horizon.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My source of finding new clients has been word of mouth up to this point. Recently I hired a company specializing in marketing strategy using LinkedIn to create brand awareness and find prospects. At this point, I’ve created all my product processes, developed content written and in video format, created a YouTube channel and landing page, and now beginning to start posting. I’m very excited about what the future holds with this new venture.
