Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Todd Bailey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Todd, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
The idea of Brewtal started with my best friend Arie and I. We knew we loved talking about metal and we’re also interested in craft beer, so why not mix both together. We both knew there are other podcast doing the same but we wanted to create our own niche.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My story is very DIY. I had no clue about anything podcasting but just dove in and hoped for the best. Brewtal is constantly evolving as we go. My favorite day of the week is Friday, because that means new music to listen to — each one is like Christmas to me. So, we try to capture that energy and excitement on our podcast. Plus, doing beer reviews about craft beer has really made me appreciate breweries. I love trying a new concoction from a local place.
Outside of podcasting, I’m an editor and photographer for a local lifestyle show. Before that, I nearly worked a decade in news. I honed my interview skills, writing and storytelling during those years. I like to believe it has helped me talk about what I do with the podcast, especially reaching out to bands and interacting with them as part of the process.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
NFTs are a love/hate situation for me. If you take a look at what Avenged Sevenfold is doing in the music/metal arena with it, I have high hopes on the community building it can bring.
However, with the amount of scams out there, people should be careful. This includes the volatile market of cryptocurrency. This all just means, proper practices need to be put in place, secured and established before trust is made with the masses.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Honestly, I just want everyone to be as excited as I am about new music that comes out, including new craft beer. Music is what makes the world turn and we’re all a part of this great symphony of noises. Beneath the screaming, metal hits a lot of poignant topics, especially with what’s going on in the world today. It’s cathartic for many.
