We were lucky to catch up with Tobias Armand recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tobias , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
It is our mission to combat the fight of cancer and aid those affected by the disease with resources that are both universally accessible and useful. Cancer affects all population groups in the United States, but due to social, environmental, and economic disadvantages, certain groups bear a disproportionate burden of cancer compared with other groups. We provide services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience. We are here to provide emotional, practical, physical, and financial support. Quite often, many people are unaware of what direction to take once there is a diagnosis of a cancer; whether for themselves or a loved one.
There was a scenario where a young woman in her early 30s reached out and advised she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was devastated by the news. Many people have the misconception that this affects older individuals, but in fact can affect anyone; even men. Our team reached back and provided several resources for counseling, health services and financial support through the provisions our 501c3 Non Profit receives through grants and supporter contributions. This was especially appreciated, due to the fact that this individual was in the entertainment industry and did not have traditional medical coverage. She is now on a road of recovery and is very appreciative to the Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tobias Armand and I’m not only an awarded actor and published model, but have a sincere passion for those battling cancer. Due to this very reason, I ventured out as an entrepreneur to start the Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation. It is a nationally recognized charity organization that aids in the battle of cancer.
As the Founder and President, I wanted to ensure the purpose of the Tobias Armand Cancer Foundation to combat the fight of cancer and aid those effected by it. This foundation’s objectives include: financial support, counseling, community events, activism, liaison, research, educational events, therapy, scholarships, fundraising and much more. TACF and its members have a common strategy to impact equality, justice, accessibility, reliability and encourage a sense of community. Our purpose is to aim for a good life without cancer and help those, despite cancer. For those affected, the foundation’s mission is to help as many as possible make a full recovery and the ones who have incurable cancer, help live as full lives as possible thanks to good treatment and support in memory of Tiara Ella Noreen Benn-Reyes.
I lost my sister to this disease back in 2021 at the early age of 36 due to cervical cancer. As one can imagine, it devastated my entire family. The hardest part was to relay that to her two young children. Since then, I’ve made it my personal goal to not only be there for them, but to all who are going through battling this deadly disease. There is so much to learn about cancer, how one can lessen chances of developing it, preparation and healthy lifestyle choices to adopt. One of the biggest in preparation is insurance, such as life insurance. I am also the founder and CEO of Trinity Insurance Solutions — a multi line insurance agency where we provide services in Health, Life, Property, Casualty, Medicare and Medicaid.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
In today’s society, social media is pivotal in a business’s success. This is even applicable to nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit organizations use social media to raise awareness about their cause, raise funds, recruit donors and volunteers, build community around their mission, and communicate important information to many people quickly.
For my organization, social media helps us engage with the community and find different ways to help those in need. Advertising, community events and volunteer opportunities helps attract those with similar interests, get great feedback and build an audience. Transparency is important. TACF highlights different success stories, advises on the different cancer awareness months, new treatment/research news, healthy living tips and encourages regular health checkups to be proactive in your health. Knowledge is power.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One fact that many are not aware of, is that I myself am a cancer survivor as well — twice actually. There is a difference between sympathy and empathy. The way one can give advice when they’ve experienced the same things that impact your life speaks volumes. There is an emotional rollercoaster of highs and lows, fear and a constant battle to not fall victim to depression. Organizations such as my Non-Profit help give hope and encouragement to so many. I can not tell you how many people and organizations have reached out and thanked us for what we do. I am very proud to have an impact on the lives of others. Each year, there is a greater gain of hope in research, cures and those being able to continue life with a sense of normalcy regardless of a diagnosis of cancer. The indomitable will and resilience I had to have in my own battle fuels my passion to help others.
