We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tobi Komolafe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tobi below.
Tobi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’ve been doing hair since i was 15years old, i’ve stopped and started so many times. I never took it serious until i was 21. I started to understand my gift and being apart of helping women feel beautiful, seeing the transformation, the heighten of confidence when i was finished a hairstyle, was the most rewarding. Just being apart of a women’s process & continuing to provide that experience to all queens is my mission .
Tobi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tobi, the owner of The Krowned Experience. I was a former NYC hair artist, i relocated to Charlotte, NC. About a year ago left everything i knew in NYC, my clientele and everything. In hopes to expand my brand, stepping out on faith. My goal is to provide the Krowned Experience to all queens in the Charlotte, NC AREA & worldwide. The customer relation is the biggest part of my experience, i want everyone that steps into my space to feel seen, feel heard, and to feel beautiful. Nomatter the hair type, texture, or style. I want to make everyone feel like the queen that they are, providing the experience one curl at a time
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A story that illustrates resilience is relocating to Charlotte, NC. I literally left everything. And start new, not knowing anyone in Charlotte, not having even 1 client here. Moving here starting over at 0. From doing hair every day to going months without touching hair, interacting with NO Clients, there were moments i wanted to give up and move back home but i kept pushing through. Kept promoting myself, pushed myself through depression and isolation. I got discouraged and thought i made a mistake. But its about the journey, i am still not where i want to be clientele wise but ita growing, and even though its hard, adjusting but as new faces book my services, its showing me to never give up on me. Even through the slow moments. Its worth it.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media is just being you, im realizing that people buy into the person before they buy into the brand. People want to get to know the face behind the brand and i am very lowkey i love playing the background but i’ve learned people want to see me, people are interested. I’ve stopped allowing my fears and doubts stop me. Its a day to day process but i am a big part of my brand and stepping into the light has helped build an audience throughout my platforms
