We recently connected with TJ Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
TJ, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I feel so blessed that I get to make music for a living. I truly feel we all have some artistry in us and we owe it to the healthiest versions of ourselves to let that art out. Whether it’s done professionally or just as a hobby at home we should all be creating. It helps us become our best selves and helps us get much needed emotions out.

TJ, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is TJ Jackson and I’ve been a singer for 30+ years now. I am very proud to be part of the successful Jackson family. My brothers and I have a singing group called 3T and I’ve also been releasing music as solo artist for the last four years now. Through my own music I’ve been fortunate enough to travel and play shows around the world. What I am most proud of is the fact that I get to connect with people in a very powerful way because of my music. I hope my fans and followers will always feel the love I try to spread.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I love the fact that I can help people get through a situation they are going through either directly because of my music or by providing escape. I was always told by my family how powerful music can be and it’s so true. And because of that I truly try to bring joy and happiness to my listeners every time a release a new song.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I use to think in terms of sales, chart positions and awards but now it’s all about connecting with my listeners. By changing the landmark I’ve been able to enjoy the process of making music a lot more. Sales, chart positions and awards are not in my control. But if I commit to making the best art I can for me, my family and my fans than I’ve won. I truly believe that and wish more artist approached their crafts that way.
