Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TJ Foster . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TJ , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was a salon owner/operator for close to 10 years and in the beauty industry for almost 20 yrs. Needless to say with Covid 19 on the rise- that was the first time in over a decade I was told I could not work and the service I provided was not essential. With Covid spreading as fast as it did , I did not argue nor disregard the decision that for health purposes salons across the nations had to close, however the closing of my business placed me in a WHATS next mindset. What businesses were operating and profitable during a global pandemic.
How could I continue to operate at the highest entrepreneurial level that I’d become accustomed to?
How could I continue to serve, operate within my purpose, and pour into people?
Well my family and I decided to relocate and walked away from the beauty industry and ran to Real Estate.
I am now licensed in Texas and Nevada.
Although this move was uncomfortable across the board, real estate fueled the same fire that burned in my heart as the salon did .

TJ , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a retail business owner , the foundation of my entrepreneurial journey is based on purpose, community, innovation, and empowering others. Transitioning from the beauty industry into real estate slightly played on my confidence because I was so accustomed to being the expert in my field. Once I stepped into Real Estate , I was nolonger the expert, I nolonger had the time or numbers established to be considered an expert.
What I did possess from all of my years in a service industry was the ability to understand. transactions from a Tenants point of view , integrity, drive, the will to succeed, and the the heart to go after exactly what type of commercial and residential realtor I wanted to be .
Which was a realtor that understands patience and determination is key to assisting buyers, sellers , and investors in some of the biggest purchases they’ll ever acquire. As a realtor with Realty One Group- Forward Living I am afforded daily the tools, resources, and leadership to succeed, grow and confidently empower each of my clients to make informed decisions.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In two very lucrative service based industries where large sums of money are circulated , it takes years to build a reputation and seconds to destroy . Therefore I operate honestly and integral , I do my best to be direct , knowledgeable, and patient. I take the time to listen to wants , needs , and desires. I am always promoting myself, I typically access a marketing opportunity by noticing who is not promoting or introducing themselves to me. If I’m running errands, going to the gym or attending casual events Im usually wearing a promotional shirt , hat , name tag something or something that speaks for me and who I am. These are normally conversation starters which allow me to initiate organic conversations that open doors for follow ups ultimately generate leads to acquire clients.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I’ll never stop learning.( knowledge is power) Is one of the truest statements ever made.
I’m not afraid to admit when I don’t know, or are unsure of something.
I invest both time and money into myself, learning and networking.
In both beauty and real estate the rules change by the second most times and as a trusted resource, it is my duty to know absolutely what is happening in the market.
How someone looks and where they live or invest are high on the list of priorities for many. And I just happen to to be a professional on both arenas. I pride myself on honesty and information
