We were lucky to catch up with Tiziano Mammana recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiziano thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
When you work with a photo camera or video camera, achieving success lies in exceeding client expectations by providing precisely what they need. Listen to what they desire and envision, and use your skills and experience to bring their ideas to life. It may seem easy, but it requires patience and the ability to listen carefully and suggest what might be good for them.
Emotional connection is crucial in my craft, as storytelling through video and photography captivates audiences with images that convey deep emotions. Creating videos or photos that evoke emotions will not only satisfy your clients but also enhance the visual appeal of their product and boost their business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Everything started in 2010 when I began taking photos just for fun. I entered the photo and video industry professionally in 2019, just before the pandemic, initially as a photographer and then as a videographer. I started with weddings in Canada, and now I specialize in headshots, drone operation, wedding videography, and camera work for commercials in Los Angeles, California.
My company focuses on creating images and videos for clients, which allows me to work across various fields. I love this diversity in my work. With my cameras, I can transition from filming a wedding to taking photos for a brand or capturing BTS for an event or a cinematography set. Currently, I have two company websites: one dedicated to wedding videos and the other to producing photos and videos for commercials, film sets, music videos, and drone shots.
I am very pleased that I am not confined to just one sector as a videographer and photographer. Instead, I can cater to a wide audience, from couples getting married to actors needing headshots for their characters, and small businesses requiring promotional videos for social media.
In my experience, there is no photo or video that cannot be made; it all depends on the project and the client’s investment. Working on large projects involves collaborating with a team of industry professionals (sound, video, makeup, lighting, editors, etc.) to create a high-quality final product. That’s why it is very important for me to chat with my clients to understand exactly what they need. The same applies to weddings, where quality and experience are vital, given the impossibility of reshooting scenes on a day dedicated to the couple following a strict timeline.
I’m really proud of where I am today, especially since I started from scratch just a few years ago in such a competitive and technical field, where you have to be self-reliant and never give up.
I’m also aware that I work in a field where continuously improving and raising the bar on my craft is not just an option but the only way to succeed as a videographer and photographer.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Establishing a strong reputation is paramount in any business. From my experience, attentive listening to my clients’ needs is pivotal. I take the initiative to educate them on technical aspects that may be challenging to grasp, clearly outlining my approach and deliverables from project initiation to completion.
Furthermore, I ensure thorough communication by discussing every detail of the project, ensuring alignment with their expectations. Lastly, on the day of shooting, I consistently give my utmost effort because 90% isn’t sufficient; I strive for 100%. This dedication is noticeable and builds trust, establishing me as a reliable professional.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is making people happy through your creativity. You can literally create the Image or the video they will use for their business or pleasure.
This make me proud and happy.
As an artist, there are no boundaries on how you can create a project for your client. I have the freedom to do whatever I want when conceptualizing, and then we develop the process together according to their needs until we achieve the desired result.
