Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tisha Moses. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tisha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
My first client was my hairdresser and the one who encouraged me to get into product photography! We were talking about her business goals and looked at her Instagram page. I showed her my planner-related page which had staged photos with different themes and feeds. She was impressed with my work, said that I should do that legitly, and asked me to take some pictures for her store. The rest is history! I remember being so excited when I saw my images on her webpage!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, I’m Tisha, and I’m the owner of Red Leopard Photos. Red Leopard Photos is for you if you own a small or big business. I offer product photography and user-generated- content which is needed to grow your brand, not only in sales but awareness and trustworthiness. I aim to deliver images and content that will make your potential customer stop, find out about your brand, and hopefully buy your products. I started Red Leopard Photos in 2019 after being encouraged by my hairdresser. My name came from my love of leopard print and the fact that I look great in red. I love and seek out opportunities that will allow me to use fresh flowers, it adds so much to an image! I have experience in PhotoShop and LightRoom. I have taken photos and worked with skincare, bath, hair care, and makeup brands.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
HAHAHAHA… My husband bought my first camera for Christmas that I used to start taking my photos. Once I started to take things seriously, I put up a wishlist on Amazon, and my mother bought most of my props and backgrounds. Since then, the funding has come from me, lol.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
There are a few ways that I have been able to find clients. Being close to the Atlanta area, there are pop-up events all the time. What I have done is attend those, bring business cards or my virtual cards, and pitch my services to those at the event. I often check out their social media pages or websites to see the services I need to pitch.
Another way is by e-mail. I find brands on Instagram that I would love to work with or brands that need to upgrade their images/content.
