Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TIRA GRANT. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TIRA, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risk I have taken was starting my business, Tira Lynn Events in 2017. I am a single mother of two. And very active in their school and after school activities, so timing was key for me. I knew I would not be able to devote time to my business until my youngest was somewhat finished high school. After years of dreaming of owning my own business, I finally stepped out on faith. Not knowing where to start, I invested in a mentor to help guide me thru the process. The biggest take away from that investment was networking was key and getting your name out there. After solidifying a name, logo, website amongst other things. I started getting out there, whether it was thru email, networking events etc. I wanted to people to be able to have a face with my brand.
The next biggest task, was getting clients. I decided to advertise in Wedding Wire and connect with another planner to create and execute my first Style Shoot. My first year was very slow but by the next year I had picked up more traffic with client booking and getting my name out there, as well developing trusting relationships with a variety of vendors.

TIRA, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Tira Lynn Events is a small boutique wedding and event planning business based in Baltimore, MD. We serve the DMV and beyond. I started my business in 2017. We strive to create and design personalized events that fit our clients/couples. I was always the go to person for planning or decorating. It started with planning and executing my children’s birthday parties and holiday events.
My goal is to alleviate their stress in planning and/or managing the day of their wedding or event. Because we are a small business, I do not overbook for the day. When a client books my services they get me from beginning to end. I love to step outside the box and do your average cookie cutter events. I love including personalized elements to a clients event.
Tira Lynn Events has been published in variety of magazines and featured on numerous wedding blogs. I have won multiple times for The Knot Best of Weddings, as well as Wedding Wire and the Editor’s Choice Awards for Wedding Rule, Recently I was announces as the runner for Baltimore Weddings Month of and Full Planning wedding planner.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source has been The Knot/Wedding Wire or referrals. These are my best sources because potential clients can see the reviews of past clients and with referrals most times the person has either attended or saw photos to prompt them to inquire about my services.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have developed some great connections and relationships with clients. The end of the year I send all of my clients for that year a Thank You gift. I acknowledge birthdays and personal accomplishments either thru text, email or cards. Your relationships don’t end after you have concluded a wedding or social event.
