Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tinsley Tarot. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tinsley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
The U.S. education system leaves a lot to be desired. I do not think highly of it, even though I have a Master’s degree. A person’s most educational experience is often their first real job, and our schools do not do enough to prepare us for it. On-site residencies should be required for all careers and not just reserved for some. All colleges and universities need to be held accountable for placing students in viable jobs and not just profiting from them. Our institutions often leave students stranded after graduation, in debt, and without a clear direction or path on where they can apply their skills. Overall, American culture should expand more apprenticeship and trade school teaching models.
As a fine art graduate, there are not enough jobs to support the number of students that get churned out each year. The gap between what schools promise and what is delivered is expanding, with little regard for the job market. After having multiple jobs and barely making a living wage, it was up to me to create my own position. As a woman, I had to start a business in order to provide the most value.
The foundation of our education should address core societal issues. This requires us to do more with students’ time in school and support real-life applications. The C.D.C. has reported that a record number of adolescent girls have experienced an increase in sexual violence and depression. Mental health has been on a steady decline for years, and more therapists should be available to support the emotional well-being of students. As women’s rights continue to erode with the loss of autonomy of our bodies, we must provide new methods in which young girls can escape from being assaulted and feel empowered. There is a need for self-defense to be taught to girls at both middle and high school levels. As an adult, I practiced martial arts, and the knowledge of pressure points and trained responses can make the difference between life and death. I believe that every woman should have the skills needed to defend themselves at every stage of their life.
Tinsley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
In 2018 I started my business in the wellness field because I wanted to help others the way I was able to help myself. I began Tinsley Tarot as a beacon of support and guidance for those searching for something more in life. What sets me apart from other tarot readers is that I also offer a variety of healing modalities. As a Reiki Master, Sound Bath Healer, and Master Certified Life Coach, my code of ethics is much more robust than your average reader. Trust is imperative, and I value and respect the time and effort each person invests into their own self-improvement. Together, we discover where they want to be, the significant goals they want to achieve, and what needs to be overcome to arrive at that desired destination.
My clients always know what the cost of a session will be upfront, as the price is established and never charged by the minute. Unfortunately, tarot call centers are still in business today. They use high-pressure tactics to keep people on the phone as long as possible, using scripted responses as they charge obscene amounts per minute. This business model exploits people when they are most vulnerable and has created a stigma around the tarot card reading industry. Always check reviews and seek the counsel of an individual reader because the quality of counsel you receive will be much better than that of a corporate call center.
Through sound baths, reiki healing, and tarot card reading, I solve the problem of feeling disconnected. Everything is intertwined, and when we release feelings of sadness, loneliness, and separation, we can begin to see how we are all connected. These practices offer insight into what is blocking the client from their passion and purpose so that they may shift their mindset to start fresh and begin again. When a person is able to identify and overcome their limiting belief systems, a new world opens up and is a catalyst for growth. Each client I work with is given a detailed action plan so they know how to best move forward and feel empowered after our session.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson that I have to unlearn is that vulnerability is a weakness. I am still healing and overcoming this, as I have resistance showing or feeling the full range of my emotions. Healing is not linear but a spiral. When we have trauma around a particular topic, it can take years of conscious evaluation and different decision-making before it no longer has any power over us. But with intention, each time we revisit it, the pain will slowly diminish and dissolve.
There is a void where my childhood should have been. I internalized the tension of sharing time, dancing between disparate locations in an elaborate custody exchange from the age of five. My mother’s side was kind, genuine, and supportive, and my father’s family embodied the polar opposite characteristics. Much of my formative years were spent walking on eggshells. I learned how to respond the way people wanted me to instead of honoring how I actually felt. You could call me an empath. Although, most who identify with that term come from environments where they had to know what those around them felt in order to survive. But the core of every trauma offers a seed of greatness that will unlock a personal superpower. From this, I became radically independent and was able to start a business by myself in a city I had no connections in. It helped me gain the skills needed to read the energy of people I had never met before. I used to wear my hardened demeanor as a badge of honor in my 20s, priding myself in the fact that I had not cried in years. It was not until I found Reiki energy healing that I could put this identity aside. With time and patience, I am finding new ways to integrate softness and turn my vulnerability into strength.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I have a passion for delivering quality services each and every time. No job is too small, and every client is met with the utmost respect and consideration. I show up and deliver 100%, whether for a private one-on-one session or a high-profile corporate event. Consistency and accountability are essential to me, and I wish more businesses and people cared as much as I do. My purpose is to create a space for healing and acceptance through a window in which to be seen. My tarot card reading and Reiki sound bath healing services support personal transformation. It is my honor to be a guide to those seeking to improve themselves, get unstuck, and shift their perspective to achieve significant milestones.
From bridal showers to big brand product launches, I have gained great exposure and 5-star reviews from various clients in Los Angeles and Orange County. I love working events of all sizes, demonstrating to the public that tarot readings and sound baths can be just as fun and therapeutic as they are entertaining. People have reported having profound revelations, tingling sensations, visions of color, and otherworldly experiences when receiving my crystal singing bowl Reiki energy healing. My services at parties and celebrations always focus on creating an uplifting mood and delivering positive guidance to each guest I work with. Contact me at [email protected]
