Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tinks Lovelace. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tinks, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My latest feature film, ‘people you meet’, shot almost entirely in split screen, by me, a first time writer/director, is a feel good indie comedy about two quirky loners meeting at a speed-friending event.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a visual artist from Nottinghamshire, England working bicostally in New York and LA. I’ve shot and directed campaigns that have gone on billboards in Times Square, New York, as well as Art Directed for some major brands both in the UK and USA. ‘people you meet’ is my first feature film as a writer/director shot entirely in Los Angeles.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Looking for a location to shoot the film was interesting, I really wanted this all black interior one in Burbank, but the scout at the location said the airplanes fly over constantly as it was in the flight path for the airport there. We finally found the one we used in the film, it was on Sunset Blvd, in the heart of Hollywood, practically within walking distance to my first ever apartment in the city, it felt very poetic.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Confidence. A very important ingredient to creativity and/or creating. Do you feel or believe your story/message/work is worthy to be heard? (The answer is, of course, universally, YES!) but its not always something taught, or rather its difficult to be taught and/or learnt.
