We were lucky to catch up with Tinesha Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tinesha , appreciate you joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
When people ask me this question I used to be very nervous because im not a millionaire, but one thing I will tell you is that I’ve learned many lessons. I am actually still working a full time job as a Corporate Recruiter, I have a part time job as a Manicurist instructor and I am a part time entrepreneur. When I went full time into entrepreneurship in 2020 I had a slow start, I picked up some and then a sudden drop and when I did that I found myself looking to others to make a conscious decision for me. When I was suffering through my anxiety, depressed and then getting Covid at the end of 2021 I decided that I was no longer going to struggle I was going to go back to work and invest in my business! I’ve learned that some people can take the risk of quitting the job and moving forward, but Ive always had fear on the mind so it wasnt something I could do successfully. I am a single mom so my actions have to be planned out. When I decided to go back to work and be a part time entrepreneur it was the best thing id ever done. Now I can invest in my business and turn a profit as well :). I can now say yes to being happy I am a business owner!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tinesha, but my business name is Prima. I am the owner of the I. Am. Enough Collection which is a collection of t-shirts, crewnecks, crop tops and tanks that says “I AM ENOUGH” on them. Simple and to the point. I created this line when I was struggling with my mental health and I wanted an affirmation shirt with a simple logo to get me through as well as those who may walk by and read my shirt. I want people to know YOU ARE ENOUGH! Mental health is something that isn’t talked about much and we need to make it more of a priority. I am proud of myself for putting my story out there and pushing through. IT’s hard to tell thousands of people on a platform that your depressed, anxious, feeling like a bad mom, heartbroken etc. I decided to put myself out there and tell my story so I can help another single mommy push through her day, or a mommy that feels she needs to lose weight feel good about the skin she’s in. Or even the man who feels he’s not enough, no you are ENOUGH. My collection is to motivate, encourage and help others open up. Its time for the world to get the healing we all deserve. My collection is not about just making money it’s about spreading the message!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I am genuinely myself! I used to be scared to just be my authentic self, but now I enjoy having fun and I have so many people that reach out and tell me I inspire them and I am always so surprised!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have a newsletter on my website where I can keep in touch with customers and give them updates! For my brand loyalty I just make sure I show up well for my customers and keep their orders coming on time
