We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tina White. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tina below.
Tina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Taking a risk is simply having the Faith that you can do it. Over my years of being self employed I’ve taken many risk. So I decided…I’ll do it AFRAID!
I’ve worked in the Coopertive world for almost 20 plus years, I always knew that I wanted to work for myself. However, like some people, I was comfortable and a little fearful to take the leap. It wasn’t until I was laid off and began to take off. I had already had a plan, now I just needed to have courage to pursue. I decided to move forward and start a home care company, called Quality Assurance Homecare.. instead of renting commercial space , after growing the company for a year, I decided I wanted to purchase a building. Well, not just any building. I purchased a stripmall and decided to fill each space with my own businesses., which includes, Quality Assurance Homecare, Quality Assurrance Home health, Quality Assurance Supportive services (5013c), B’Relevant Styles Salon, QA Studio Fix (eyelash, brow, and makeup).
Then I decided to take another risk and became co-owner of Linna & Co, LLC,. My partner, Lynn Taylor and I have purchased several rental properties and we look forward to growing our portfolio.
Fast forward…decided to purchase a historical home next door to the strip mall. It’s a beautiful house with so much detail and character. The house is surrounded by gorgeous trees, which provides a peaceful and serine establishment. This will be my newest and biggest project, The House of QA Wine Garden. It will be a place of beauty, community, relaxation, and socialization. Serving small plates and the finest wines around the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Again my brand is “Quality Assurance”, making sure I’m providing the best services and meeting the customer needs.
What sets me apart is I absolutely will take RISKS. Some, risks brings upon victories and I’ve had some losses as well. However, it never caused me to give up. Every failure and every doubt, would be denounced with a strategy to do something different and better. Mindset shifting has saved my life.
I am most proud that through my experiences and sharing my personal stories, I’m able to inspire others to believe and achieve their personal goals. My motto is never overthink it…take it day by day.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Make sure you have the right people on the BUS (i.e. Team).
It truly makes a difference not to higher staff to simply fill a space or because they are family. Having the right fit, will not only make your business more successful…but it will free you up for your next big dream. I owe a big thanks to Jen Bray, one of the best office managers in the world. I’m grateful for all of my team!!!! They definitely make me look good! 😊
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As we all know, life is filled with so many challenges. I too was hit with a few. While maintaining my businesses I was grieving the loss of my father, going through a horrible/dragged out divorce, ex spouse died from cancer, and then COVID hit.
Through it all I was able to withstand. I was able to keep my mind healthy, by getting a therapist. When Covid hit…the world stopped. However, the good thing is that because I had several streams of income, one business would carry the other.
