We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tina Loszewska. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tina below.
Tina, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
My business partner and I struggled a LOT when it came to finding the perfect images for clients who didn’t have a huge budget for photoshoots. Each time I Googled ‘editorial stock images’ nothing came up, nothing that screamed drool worthy, stop the scroll images. Everything felt stiff and stock like.
So we took matters into our own hands and purchased editorialstockimages.com, we thought this project would take a couple months to launch and it’s been almost a year! We just launched and have a collection of over 3000+ images, videos and mockups for creatives. Everyday we have people comment and tell us how much they’ve been needing a stock library like the one we’ve created. Where images feel real, and the people feel real and it evokes emotion.
There was a gap in the market for beautiful, affordable images. We now offer a person membership and a brand membership, depending on someones needs within their business. We are also catering to people who don’t want to be in a membership but would rather pay per image inside our commercial stock shop for their digital products for sale.
Even though we’ve only been live for a month, we have the most incredible members and are constantly curating images for them. We know this will be big, and we’re here to change the game for stock images.
Editorial Stock was born to support our own businesses and now we get to help other businesses feel the exact same way when it comes to finding beautiful images.
Tina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tina, I’m a brand and website designer and I run two businesses, which to be honest this was not at all in my future plan, but I always had a small feeling I’d be doing something since both my mom and aunt have ran successful businesses.
Back in 2018 my now fiance and I really wanted to take a year off from our corporate jobs which we dreaded and were tired of, to sail the Caribbean for a year! We were the ones watching youtube videos of couples sailing to different islands and living on their boat everyday. My fiance grew up on a sail boat with his family so it was kind of a no brainer, and of course I’m usually up for just about anything.
As we began looking for our boat, and packing up our house to pull the trigger I was thinking of ways to make money while we sailed. We didn’t need a ton but enough to buy food and explore the islands. I began searching online and someone I met recommended an online course by two women called the Bucketlist Bombshells who taught women how to build an online business so they can travel the world. I ended up taking their course in 2018, and unfortunately we never ended up buying a boat because unlike cars it’s difficult to find the perfect sea worthy one. We had to pass and so plan B was to move out West, so we packed up and moved across.
Fast forward 4 years later I run a successful 6-figure Studio serving creatives from all over the world. I also just launched and co-founded a stock membership site called Editorial Stock Images with a client who turned friend who turned business partner.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I have been at the beginning and I have taken the clients just to make money but I have also been on the other side of people now recognizing my name and referrals come through often. What I’ve learned is to find what makes you special and you have something, not to follow what others are doing and think it will work for you. This results in being a copy cat and nobody likes that. The business world is truly a small place.
But I believe and what I found most effective is do the work, do the BEST work you possibly can, always go above and beyond and make sure every experience is special. Also, show case your weirdness, or something that is special to you. We all love REAL moments and rather then seeing your picture perfect life, share the moments of struggle or your weird quirks, maybe you have a habit or do something you thought you were the only one on the planet who does.
You’ll be surprised how many people are dying to relate to someone like you, that’s what builds community, that’s what helps people relate to you and want to work with you.
I have many times had clients reach out to me because they love how honest I am and that I’m so easy to talk to, as well that I’m a great listener. These are all qualities I didn’t think would matter but they do!
So find what makes you special and let that shine! Clients become attracted to that and you will attract your tribe!
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I’m a firm believer there are books, podcasts and courses you can take online that will change the game for you. One of my favourite books that really changed my mindset was Amanda Frances’ Rich as F*ck money book. Entrepreneurship is such a wave, it’s got major highs and major lows but you have to be such a resilient person to own a business and keep going when the going gets tough. Especially when you feel like you work 24/7 and the reward just hasn’t hit yet. We begin to then doubt ourselves, talk to ourselves in ways that puts us down, makes us feel unworthy and incapable of accomplishing our goals. Amanda’s book makes you believe otherwise, it begins to reprogram your brain into thinking positively into believing everything you desire is already here. I can tell you I’ve read the book 4x and have always manifested a booked out calendar , more clients and money coming from unexpected places.
As a business owner we have to be our own cheerleaders and I could not recommend this book enough. Her money course is amazing too but if I had to choose one resources I continue going back to and feeling inspired by it’s her book!
