We were lucky to catch up with Tina Leix recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
2019 was an emotional year, to say the least. My mom lost her battle with cancer, and two months later, I gave birth to my first kiddo. I was broken; my world was shattered. But, my mom’s strength was instilled in me and her inspiration guided my sadness into creativity. Suddenly, the rungs of the corporate ladder I was climbing seemed unimportant. Entrepreneurship and owning my own business was the way forward. My mom loved crafting, not necessarily wreaths, but she left a beautiful mark on everything she touched. Hopping off the corporate ladder and starting a business surely had to be sign. I’m so happy I can finally build my company and bring happiness to front doors, indoors and lovely brides!
I’ve always had a love for florals, wreaths & home decor/interior design but had a difficult time finding wreaths & decor that I adore. Well made items, with special touches. This inspired me to begin designing my and launch Tina Leix Floral, Wreath and Home Co., LLC in 2020.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
One of the joys of living in Colorado is the nature that surrounds us. Whether I’m out hiking on a trail or strolling down the street with my kids, I’m seeking the wisdom and intrigue of the unappreciated. Thistles, dried plants, craggy leaves, dried stems and flowers may be ignored by some, but I see them as the perfect pieces to incorporate in my florals & wreaths. The wildness and rawness of materials straight from nature bring textural depth to my work and make each design unique.
All florals, wreaths & home decor items are made with faux &/or real dried items from nature, durable and strong, versatile, designed by me and made with love. Bringing nature into our lives has been proven to reduce stress and lower anxiety, while greenery has been said to make people feel more relaxed and calm, so why not spruce up a spot in your house?
Every time I pick up those dried flowers or plants I get excited about what they will help my designs become. I take pride in my work. I know how happy my designs make me, and I want to know my customers are just as happy. If you have questions or concerns, I offer exceptional customer service. Like a passing neighbor during an evening walk, I’m always here to say hi. Proud of: SEEN: @HGTV @NBC @mtntownmagazine @bluenilediamond @rockymtnbride @9newsdenver @mtnwomenmagazine
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I heard that there was a new show on HGTV called Rico to the Rescue. I reached out to the Interior Designer and asked if I could donate a wreath and a table centerpiece for one of the episodes in Evergreen, Colorado. She asked to see some of my work and agreed to allow me to design 2 pieces for the home. After the reveal was filmed I received a personal message from one of the HGTV Producers telling me that my designs were her absolute favorite part of the entire home and asked if she could commission me to design a couple pieces for a ranch style home in Parker, Colorado that was going to be featured on another episode.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Honestly, word of mouth and referrals are 95% of my business. I have many 5* reviews on Google and couldn’t do it without my customers who spread the word about my small business!
