We were lucky to catch up with Tina F. Foy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tina F., looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
When the owner of Mogul TV Global Network reached out to me with an opportunity that felt divinely inspired, I knew I had to take a leap of faith. Though stepping outside my comfort zone was daunting, I felt compelled to share my personal journey of rediscovering myself after years of prioritizing my role as a wife and mother.
Like so many women, I had lost a part of my identity in taking care of my family and putting myself last. I yearned to reclaim the ritual of getting up and putting myself together, just because. I wanted to feel that joy and confidence again. In talking with a friend who related, the seed of an idea was planted.
And so Beauty In Me with Tina was born. A passion project where I could have real conversations about self-care, fashion, beauty and more with women from all walks of life. Though handling the full production was overwhelming initially, determination propelled me forward. We completed our first season in August to great response, and are gearing up for season two.
The journey so far has shown me the power of stepping into my purpose. By sharing my story and platforming other women’s voices, we can inspire each other to prioritize self-care and reconnect with our inner beauty. When we feel empowered from within, we can better serve our loved ones and communities. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow through this labor of love.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tina F. Foy, and I have an inspiring story to share. As a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, I strive to spread beauty, confidence, and compassion.
It all began when I launched Bella by Tina Foy, a luxury skincare and cosmetics brand honoring my late sister Bella. Our essential creams, cleansers, and beard oils provide simple solutions for women and men struggling with skin issues. Since 2020, we’ve grown from a small skincare line into a full-scale beauty brand, adding high-quality makeup to help women put their best face forward.
Beyond my business, I’m dedicated to empowering women to embrace their inner and outer beauty. As creator and host of the Beauty In Me with Tina show, I cover self-love, confidence, and self-expression – offering tips to enhance natural beauty in body, mind and spirit. I’m thrilled to announce our upcoming virtual summits in 2024, where we’ll dive deep into beauty secrets together!
Finally, as the current Mrs. Imperial Nations Pageant Queen, I advocate for autistic children and families, a cause dear to my heart as an autistic mom. The pageant provides a platform to promote inclusion, understanding, and inner beauty. My directors and sister queens are amazing – we bond through our charity work and core values.
So in my roles as entrepreneur, empowerer and advocate, I spread the message: beauty lies within us all! It’s my purpose and passion to help women and families live beautifully from the inside out. If my story resonates with you, let’s connect! I believe that together, we can make the world a little more beautiful.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I’ve had my fair share of struggles, setbacks, and doubts along the way. However, I believe being open about my journey is what has helped me build my reputation over time.
Rather than portraying myself as an expert who had it all figured out from the start, I’ve been willing to be real. I share about the mistakes I’ve made and the hard lessons I’ve learned. I talk about the times I wanted to quit and didn’t think I could make it. I discuss my fears and vulnerabilities, not just my accomplishments.
This down-to-earth, relatable approach has been key. My audience sees me as someone who understands the day-to-day challenges they face. I don’t pretend to be perfect. I get real about the ups and downs we all experience in business and in life. This transparency enables people to connect with me on a human level.
My story resonates because it’s authentic. I’m not afraid to talk about the hard parts of my journey. People appreciate that I’m willing to be open and vulnerable for the sake of helping others. They feel they can learn from my real-life experiences, both good and bad.
At the end of the day, being willing to share my personal struggles is what built trust and likability with my audience. It’s allowed me to build a reputation not just as an expert but as someone genuine and relatable. My down-to-earth approach has been the key to success.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn the hard way is that hard work and loyalty will be rewarded by your employer. Growing up, I witnessed family members dedicate themselves to companies for years, working hard and doing quality work, only to be treated and compensated fairly in return. This led me to believe that was the norm – you work hard, you get paid well and treated with respect.
However, once I entered the workforce, I quickly realized this was not the case. I busted my back for employers, went above and beyond, and worked long hours, only to receive meager pay and little appreciation in return. I was making pennies on the dollar so that corporate executives and shareholders could make millions. My hard work was only making other people rich while I struggled.
I had to teach myself that employers are not always looking out for your best interests. You have to advocate for yourself and not rely on the assumption that hard work will be rewarded. I learned this lesson the hard way through years of frustration and burnout. The system is not set up for employees to benefit equally from their labor. Once I unlearned the belief that dedication and work ethic alone would lead to fair pay and treatment, I was able to find better opportunities that actually valued me for the hard work and expertise I provided. It was a tough lesson, but one that made me a much wiser employee. I now know that I have to look out for my own interests, because few companies will do it for me.
