We were lucky to catch up with Tina English & Missy Caron recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tina English & Missy Caron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
Starting 3West was one of the biggest and most rewarding risks we’ve taken. The Portage market was busy and finding enough stylists and clients was going to be tough, but there was no other place we wanted to be. Over the last four plus years we have been able to find amazing stylists and they have helped us grow a fantastic client base that has allowed 3West to find it’s own niche and flourish.
Tina English & Missy Caron , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a salon that specializes in hair care, body waxing, and eye lash extensions. Our business is centered around our clients’ needs and we strive to know our clients so we can exceed their expectations. We believe the thing that sets us apart is our familiarity with our clients and our passion for our work. We are most proud of the atmosphere we have created at our salon that allows our amazing clients and stylists to work in comfort to produce the exceptional work we have become known for.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
We were a very new business when COVID hit and we had to shut our doors for twelve weeks. We worked with our stylists to ensure they survived and had a work place to return to. We also kept in touch with our clients and did everything we were allowed to do to help them during this unprecedented time. As owners we never wavered in our conviction to reopen, when allowed, and we made every effort to reassure our clients and stylists that we would be there for them after the restrictions were lifted.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
When Missy and I worked together at a salon around fifteen years ago we realized we were from the same small town. I graduated a few years after Missy so we did not know each other but we realized we knew a lot of the same people and had similar goals. The more we got to know each other, we realized we had a lot in common. We talked about our individual dreams of one day starting a business, which always seemed so far off. Eventually, we decided that a joint venture would allow us to achieve our dreams faster and we haven’t looked back since.
