We were lucky to catch up with Tina Caul recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tina, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about your team building process? How did you recruit and train your team and knowing what you know now would you have done anything differently?
I was a solo-prenuer from day one until I got so busy that I needed leverage. I was selling 50+ homes per year when the average agent sold 4 per year and I was managing all the day-to-day myself which is not scalable. My first hire was in 2013 when I decided I needed a team behind me. Hiring was rough because I hired people like me and that was a bad idea. I didn’t know what I didn’t know but now I have a process and a system that typically helps us weed out the people that are not going to be a good culture fit. We use something called “The Working Genius” for which I am a licensed facilitator and also use several different assessments to help hire. We also use EOS and there is a section that helps us understand if a person GWC’s the role. Get’s it, Wants it, has the Capacity to do it. A lot has changed since we added in these different processes and we are finally on our way to building the dream team.
Tina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Here is my bio below but what sets me apart is that I’m a forever student. I never wak up and think “I’ve arrived.” This allows me to always stay ahead of the trends and the completion. I also have a high propensity for consistency. I may not do it perfect but I’m doing something every single day and that will ultimately beat out anyone who does it better but not consistent.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I will be the first to tell you that I HATED the idea of social media… ha! I didn’t even want my picture on my business cards however in 2017, I knew that I had to start falling in love with the process of social media as we were going into a world where the most eyeballs were on everyone’s phones.
My social media strategies have changed through the course of my business. I would tell you that at first, it was just learning to be consistent, vulnerable, and helpful. Coming from contribution and helping people in my industry level up. This created trust and the content was good so folks kept coming back for more. That increased my Instagram to 31k+ and Youtube to 16k subscribers and grew daily.
Now I can monetize my social media and I do that by using automation in the business to help build email lists and then market to those lists consistently.
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Yes! I work for a company that allows me to help build it by helping other agents build their businesses. I also receive stock and bonuses for doing the work that I do and I think it’s really important for real estate agents to diversify their income streams. The thought of getting sick or getting into an accident and not being able to meet clients and therefore not being able to pay the bills kept me up at night. It’s so important to diversify.
I went from one stream of income to 11 different streams in 4 years and I can teach anyone to do that!
