We recently connected with Tina Assadpour and Amy Ahn and have shared our conversation below.
Tina & Amy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
We wanted to help dog moms and dog dads celebrate their pups and treat them like the royalty they truly are from the inside out. So we decided to create beautiful baked goods for dogs that prioritized using only healthy simple ingredients, and none of the artificial additives, chemical preservatives, or stabilizers you often find in dog foods and other available treats on the market.
But because of this dedication, we also had a lot of challenges perfecting recipes that could physically be decorated, layered, and packaged without falling apart, cracking, or melting. Ensuring that our products would support the health of dogs was a totally non-negotiable goal for us. So after a lot of tinkering, many long nights of recipe editing, and several very adorable dog taste-testers later… we’re proud to say that we found a special formula for our baked goods.
Baked cakes and treats that look gorgeous, taste good, and make dogs feel great are what we set out to create, and it’s exactly what we’re so happy to be sharing with the dogs and their ‘pawrents’ today.
Tina & Amy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are focused on celebrating the dogs and giving their humans the very best experience. Because we understand that each order is a chance for us to help them strengthen their bond and create a new memory together.
Our growing community of Dog Moms and Dog Dads love to treat their pups, and we are here to help them do just that with a healthy and deliciously designed selection of options. Everything we bake is made to order, so our clients always know they are getting the freshest possible baked goods for their pups.
And sure, we know some people say that treating dogs like a member of the family is silly, but to that we say – “Let’s take it up a few notches, bring out the doggie champagne and caviar!” We are all about leaning into our community of dog lovers, and being the go-to for “Pawrents” who have no shame in giving their pups the very best lifestyle.
For example, we recently flew from sunny Miami to the stunning Tuscan region of Italy where we had the privilege of baking for Gunther, the World’s Richest Dog and the star of the Netflix Series, “Gunther’s Millions”, a full spread of our organic superfood cakes, tarts, biscuits and treats. From gourmet meals, to a private yacht, and of course lots of love and attention from his dog mom and dad — Now there’s a dog who is living the good life!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Paw Paw Patisserie is currently entirely self-funded, we believe in the larger vision and impact of our company and are working actively to grow it as a National brand of pet-excellence. We have big plans for the future, and are open to taking on investors that are a good mutual fit.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source has been our amazing community of ‘pawrents’. We dedicate ourselves to giving each client the best experience we can because that is our main priority. And our happy clients generously recommend us to others. When you’re focusing on excellent craft and service every single day, the rest sort of falls into place organically.
