We were lucky to catch up with Tina Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Unspoken Thoughts started because I wanted to gift my group of girlfriends’ a bracelet that had a motivational word on it. I asked all of them if they could tell themselves one positive word each day what would it be? Well everyone loved the the bracelets so much and soon others were asking if I could make them one. My thought process behind the bracelets were “Wearable Words of Affirmations Because We All Can Use little Reminder Sometimes”. The name Unspoken Thoughts was perfect because the bracelets are little reminders of the kind things we want to say to ourselves.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I host a girls night picnic every summer and as the host I always want to give my guest a unique party favor. We’ll this year when I was thinking of what to do I kept thinking I really want something that’s motivational. That’s when I landed on bracelets with motivational words on them. I loved making the bracelets and loved my friends reactions even more. I had no idea it would turn into a business. I shared my photos on social media and the feedback was insane. So many people wanted one and started offering to pay for them. Unspoken Thoughts isn’t just your average bracelet company, my bracelets are something you can wear to remind yourself that “you got this” “keep going” and to be kind to yourself. The bracelets can also be customized with any word/words of your choosing. Lots of customers get names, special dates, etc. I love making them all because I love seeing how happy they make those that are wearing them.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
I sell on my personal website theunspokenthoughtsshop.com The pros to having my own site is that I can have full creativity over it. I would say the con is on sites like etsy or Amazon you can get customers that are looking for certain items and their led to your store unlike my website where is mostly word of mouth and advertising.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I’ve been able to gain lots of customers through word of mouth. In the warmer months I was able to do a few pop of shops and gain lots of customers that way. I also try to post often on all social media platforms to bring customers in that way as well.
