We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tina Acedo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tina below.
Alright, Tina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
When I was an LPN working in a Dermatology office my mentor and owner of the practice was Dr. Ilizaliturri who is the reason why I fell in love with skin and teaching people about their skin. While I was there I was also going to school to get my RN, BSN and was soaking up everything she taught me. I worked there for 5 years and learned so much but after I received my RN I was overqualified for the position. A few years went by and I always thought about continuing my education and opening my own business but the opening my own business part just seemed so unattainable.
I eventually got my FNP-C after working in Plastics, Mohs and even the trauma team in the OR and met my fiancé Frank Chrzanowski, he was a business owner and entrepreneur so it was his idea to actually pull the trigger on the business, I thought he was crazy and I was still doubting myself even though deep down I could do it. We found a spot near our home on the Eastside where no other businesses like this had ever opened, he did the buildout I had the design already in my head found and designed my logo and brand, opened a couple of accounts for product purchased a lot of the essentials and the rest is history. We opened on November 3rd 2020 during Covid and the people just came. It was beautiful.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My background is Dermatology, Plastic Surgery and Mohs Surgery which is cutaneous oncology. I started as an MA at UMC and just found a job in Dermatology as an LPN and absolutely loved it and couldn’t learn enough. Here at Glo we do all things skin like facials, Dermaplaning, Diamond Glow treatments, microneedling, RF microneedling and ablative treatments
I remove skin tags, SK’s all benign lesions, we also do a ton of filler and Botox as well as B12 shots and vitamin IV’s
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My clients trust me, when they come in as a new patient we develop a relationship of trust and I want the best outcome so we are very honest and have a realistic expectation for the client. I have my own line of products with my logo that I get compounded and I believe in these prescription products because they will change their skin for the better I don’t sell anything in my practice that I don’t believe in wholeheartedly
Any advice for managing a team?
My advice is to have mutual respect and a great line of communication. Appreciating your employees and showing them that appreciation by taking them to lunch, gift cards or bonuses when it’s merited and doing things outside of work once in a while
