We recently connected with Tina and have shared our conversation below.

Tina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The reason I started Coca Crown, LLC was because my daughter had a passion for growing her hair at the young age of 13yrs old. I could remember waking up to her curating her own hair products in mason jars in my kitchen and refrigerating them to preserve them longer. I seen the passion in her eyes every time I would talk to her about the products she was making and what ingredients she would use. Then as weeks went on I began to see the results of how these products began to grow my daughter natural hair. I watch over the course of months her hair get longer, thicker and most importantly healthier. That’s when I knew she was on to something, as a licensed cosmologist myself, this sparked my own interest. I began doing my research on natural hair care products. I sat on the idea for a few years and then when my daughter was turning 16yrs old I seen how much more passionate she was about her natural hair and how she embraced and wore her natural Afro. This is when I decided to gift her a small business for her 16th birthday and became her business partner. I wanted to provide her with generational wealth and also embrace her passion for hair care. This is when Coca Crown, LLC a mother and daughter duo was born.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Coca Crown, LLC is made up of a mother and daughter duo who have become business partners over the years. We created an all natural hair care product line for women and young girls who love to embrace their natural hair and natural beauty. Our brand is not only a natural hair care product but it’s also an empowerment brand. We hope with the use of our hair products you would feel good about your hair and overall yourself. With every product line we create for different textures of hair to our empowerment merchandise as well. We want our customers to see the beauty in their hair and inside themselves.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A few lessons I have learned through out this journey is that in business you will have some ups and you will have some downs. You may even have a time where you may want to give up. What I have always remembered through out those seasons was my why. My why has always been my daughter, making sure as a single mother I catered to her dreams, aspirations and goals. It’s my priority to support her dreams in every aspect. I know my business partner is my why. She is why I will never give up and will see our dreams come full circle with our vision and plan for our business. I always remember that I am building generational wealth for my daughter and generations to come. So, to anyone reading this that may struggle with staying motivated or following through with their business I encourage you to remember your why and keep that as your focus to take you to your next and most highest level.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My business partner is my young, vibrant, beautiful and charismatic 20yr old daughter. I love that we our business partners because it’s like watching both my babies grow. It’s a very rewarding feeling to be able to teach my daughter so many life lessons throughout this journey. Teaching her responsibilities on a whole different level. The growth she has shown me as a business partner has truly made me proud of her in every way. She is not the same partner as she was when we first started this business back when she was 16yrs old. The journey this has taken us on has been nothing shorter than amazing. We definitely complement each other, I can’t wait to see our full vision for this brand come to life and live out its full potential.
