We recently connected with Timothy and Melanie Griffith and have shared our conversation below.
Timothy and Melanie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
We often wonder how life would be if we started our own business sooner then we did. We have had so many offers come to us, and have thought if we were 10 years younger we would jump at it.
We ultimately started when we were ready.
We had both reached as high as we could in our separate jobs, running companies for someone else.
We finally realized we knew enough and had some great ideas of how to do things differently, and we thought better.
So why not try to do it on our own.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We have a combined 50 years or more in food service. Tim, as a chef. Mel as a server/ manager.
We run Mel and Fell, a meal delivery and catering business.
We provide healthy from scratch meals, using local and seasonal ingredients.
We moved to Empire in 2017, and the grocery store closed the next year.
We are trying to provide another meal option to our community.
When we started the meal delivery service, it was as the pandemic started.
People were looking for no contact food delivery. We rose to the occasion.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We started following a couple of podcasts that speak about marketing and branding on Facebook. Marketing Made Simple, and The Jasmine Star Podcast.
Consistent posting is a key factor to get yourself noticed and to stay present.
Our brand is basically the two of us. While we aim to keep it professional, we share personal struggles.
One thing many people advise is a picture of yourself as your logo, or on your site.
The service you provide is most likely available somewhere else, by someone else.
So you need to bring people into your story, and get them to feel invested in it and you.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
We send a weekly newsletter out to our clients. We built it by word of mouth, sharing on social media, newspaper ads, mailers.
The main point of the newsletter is to share our menu for the week, we also share upcoming events where our clients can come and see us and support.
We encourage referrals with our clients, when they refer someone to us, they get a free meal!
