We recently connected with Timon Clark and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Timon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
When it comes to music there are no shortcuts. It’s like math. You can’t learn one step without the other. When it comes to Music Production first, I learned music theory, I learned rhythms and notes. As for song writing, I studied under some of the greatest lyricists. I also worked to broaden my vocabulary. Knowing different words and what they mean is essential. The obstacles were trying to be different in a world that demands you to march to the beat they march to but I overcame.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Timon “Godz Warriah” Clark. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee. I came from a Musical Family. My Father was a musician and my mother is a singer so you can pretty much see how I got into music. As a producer, I provide my clients with the best industry sounding material ax possible. The thing I am most proud of is my relationship with Jesus Christ. The second thing I’m most proud of is, I had the chance to work with some pretty big names in the music business. What I would want potential followers, clients, or fans to know is that I know I’m not worthy of any platform. I only have it because God is good not because I’m good. They will see the Authentic side of me and no carbon copy.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson I had to unlearn is that you can’t make people support you by blasting them on social media. It never works. Unprofessionalism will clip your wings of success!!
Backstory:
I submitted music to a very well known Christian hip hop organization I won’t say the name. The rejected my work and I got offended. I took to Twitter and said some things I shouldn’t have. I misrepresented my God and I misrepresented my Brand. I did apologize but I believe that door was slammed shut because of my attitude. This was when I was much younger. I was dumb back then but I’m much more wiser now.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding thing is to know that I can influence an entire generation with my words. It’s powerful.
