Timisha , appreciate you joining us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?

From the time I was born to now my parents has always been there for me through any and everything I”ve wanted to do. As a child I was always a creative kid, whether it was dancing, painting, baking or just anything that sparked my interest they would let me go for it. They instilled in me that success does not come overnight and that if you really want something you have to go for it even if it seems impossible. They taught me that dreams can be my future reality if I believe and want to achieve I can, also it doesn’t matter where you come fom only where your going, can’t nobody stop your shine but you, meaning you are the only one who can stop yourself from achieving your dreams (quotes from my mother). Both of my parents have had a big impact on my life but my mom has had the biggest impacted on my life. My mom is the definition of a super women, she has raised me to becoming the young women that I am today, she has been there for me through some of the roughest times in my life, she has supported me in everything that I have ever wanted to do but most importantly she has never given up on me even when I deserved her too. As I grow older I realize more and more I wouldn’t be in the position I am if It wasn’t for my mothers love, support and dedication to see me succeed. Now I am a high school graduate and have completed my first year of college at Hampton University leading into my second year. Everything I am and everything I am able to do is because of my mothers love, support and wisdom and my fathers wisdom and hustle mentally.

Timisha , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hello Timisha Jefferson is my name, and I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I am now 19 years old. When I was seven years old, my mom and grandma encouraged me to start baking because they were interested in learning more. As I grew older, I became more certain of what I wanted to achieve with my life, which was to transform my hobby into a profession. I started my own bakery, Luki’s Pasties, when I was 15 years old. I attended Rufus King International Baccalaureate High School that year. When I was a senior in high school, I began to realize that my brownies were my best-selling item. Brownies then onwards became a cornerstone and the basis of my bakery, As I realized I wanted more than your typical brownies and cupcakes, I began experimenting with new flavor combinations and pastries like cookies, tarts, pies, and so on. I currently provide over 50 different flavors of brownies and cupcakes, 25 different flavors of cookies (to name a few: Snickerdoodle Twist, Peanut Butter Swirl, Key Lime Tart), and I’m growing to offer more pastries like oatmeal cookies, cinnamon rolls, and creme brulee. Cakes are becoming a specialty of mines as well. I can and love to make everything from sheet cakes to 4-tier cakes. I enjoy experimenting with various buttercream and frosting types, from Swiss to French, because each style has its own unique characteristics.Furthermore, when it comes to decorating, I want to be imaginative and have a theme going whether it’s rustic, stylish, or whimsical since it pushes me outside of my comfort zone and helps me develop not just as a baker, but also as a businesswoman.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Social media is the best source for attracting new customers in this generation. Because of its tremendous expansion and networking, which attracts new clients to you, it is the ideal source for new clients. You can create a video on Tik Tok that becomes popular and attracts sponsors and new customers from all over the world. Word of mouth is an additional one. When you run a successful business, word of mouth will help you gain new clients because if one person likes it, they’ll tell their friends, and so on and so forth, and before you know it, you’ve had a brand-new clientele.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

My customers have been instrumental in building up my reputation. I delivered the wonderful service I had advertised, after which I let my work and professionalism speak for itself. People have a great deal of love and respect for you when you provide the service that you have advertised since you have kept your word and are proud of what you do. There are many things that can go wrong in the food industry because cooking and baking are difficult tasks that take time to master. Because of this, as you continue to produce wonderful dishes and do it with the same enthusiasm, your reputation will.Mines developed as a result of action, networking, and talents.
