We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tim Tindall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tim thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
I fail every single day. From when wake up, to when I finally fall asleep. My day is sprinkled with tiny little failures. This may sound bad to many, but to me, I thrive with them. I say this because each failure that I go through teaches me something new, it lets me know that I am human. I feel that people are afraid to take chances or to try something new because of their fear of failure. I say that the way to find success is through failing. With my last book, “A Poetic Guide to Serial Killers”, I failed over one-hundred times as my fiancé, Christina and I edited it over and over again. Then I had trouble with formatting and flattening layers. But each time that I failed, the more I learned and the more the book was closer to completion.
Tim, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started a company called, Through the Door. This company was created, at its core, to help others. It can do anything from creating books, creating book covers, and printing, to video production and editing. Right now I am working on a website where children make their own books. I also just finished the book, “A Poetic Guide to Serial Killers” and am going to start on a couple other books as well. My other book called, “What Do You See?” just got picked up by a therapist and they have it in their office to work with kids with Autism. With everything the company does, it works to give back in some way. Be it through charity, helping out up and coming writers in any way I can, or by motivating others to help them get their dream turned into realities.
I just finished my teaser trailer for a book of that could be fit in as well: https://youtu.be/
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Yes, I have a story that I am going through right now that illustrates this. The website that I am working on, I had to build it from scratch without knowing how to build a website. After months of learning, I had to put it on the back burner. It was disappointing to say the least, but it gave me time to work on the Poetic Guide to Serial Killers book with a help from my friends, family, and fiance, and I was able to finish that and release it. But when I have time, I am going back and get that website finished.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Actually, Facebook is a great tool for anyone. Those Facebook ads are a great way to find your potential audience and to help grow a fanbase. It is the most easiest tool and you can pinpoint your demographic with ease. You do not have to spend a ton of money to do it either. You play around with interests, age range, gender, area, and more. Put a few dollars out for an ad and then see who clicks and likes your page. After you get an idea of what your audience is, you can spend more money on those pinpointed ads. That is what I did.
