We were lucky to catch up with Tim St.Clair recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tim, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I believe life is the most meaningful project-it should be shaped into the person you wish to be. My outline is: A Personal Self Development with set determinations to project myself into a position of expression to be understood, enjoyed, and desired, while sharing the love, influence, and compassion to those around me.
Being a person of faith, I hold an innate value and responsibility to pursue and express the person my creator has designed me to be. While sharing my skills, qualities, and values with others.
What works for me, how will I form a strategy to succeed, and am I willing to take the risk?
As young as a child I started learning from my environment to gain experience building this person.
I was blessed to have two parents that cared for me- with an older and younger sibling. I was a less vocal middle child.
My family enjoyed many types of music- music became important to me in many ways. It was calming, exciting, and provoking- with many lyrics holding situational influences.
At a very young age I would sing along with many artists songs and hopefully thought as to how I could become a singer.
This seemed to be an impossible dream- I was musically illiterate, I had no one in my life to help me understand how to pursue this goal. In turn, my hopes for becoming a musician were diminished. I could not foresee any way to pursue music as a possible career.
At that point I pursued getting a job to make money to help with life demands.
Years went on, the development of life skills changed with every career I held. While taking the qualities from each career field, I improved on my ability and knowledge- still looking for a way into creating music.
While not knowing how to pursue music as a career, I had an idea. I began writing poetry and condensing it into songs. Once I had some songs written, I ask my child who was in band class to help me put music to my songs. This worked out great for the first 5 songs. During that time, I was praying for God to bring someone into my life that could help me advance the quality of music. Shortly, I did find a great guy that worked with me on the next dozen songs I had picked out from a bunch of songs I had written. The music came out Awesome!
Unfortunately, the man got sick and ended up hospitalized and gone.
At this point I found an urgency to learn how to play an instrument, realizing I had to become more self-reliant. I continued writing songs and praying I was moving in the right direction.
There were a number of obstacles that made me question whether or not I would quit or continue creating. Soon God had allowed and given me the drive to continue forward advancing myself as an Artist and overall, the person He created me to become.
There are expressions of feelings, emotions, and experiences in the songs I write. Some songs are formatted in short stories, others humorous, while others dealing with very serious situations.
I consider my music genre to be Americana (little Country, little Rock)
My dedication, time, energy, and efforts have significantly helped me advance in personal self-development.
Creating music has helped me figure out more about myself and the limits I am willing to place on my creativity, striving for the best.
Not only will I be able to share the music I have created but also share more insight to others about myself.
There is a strength and confidence I have built and developed to present my artistic creation to an audience, not knowing how it will be received.
These are some of the steps I have taken while striving to develop myself as the person I am meant to be.
You are the Most Meaningful project you will ever do. It will reflect on everyone you come in contact.
We all will pose the same question to ourselves as to who we are, what do I represent, should I chase my dream?
I wish you the Best developing the person you want to be- your worth it!

Tim, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Self-Proclaimed – “Best kept Secret in Music,” Tim St.Clair says, “I am advancing every day to make a positive change in my status, by creating songs that will hold a place with my listeners”.
Growing up in the 70’s, 80’s, Tim was exposed to some of the best music that is still being duplicated and reproduced by many new artists today. Tim said “You may find my music to be a little Old Southern Rock meets Country, I call it Americana.”
Tim’s day to day challenge is to build a better relationship with his Creator, his family, and stay humble chasing his dream making music to share with the world.
Residing in the suburbs of Texas, USA – between Dallas and Fort Worth. He frequently joins in local venues performing his solo acoustics to the patrons. If you were in the area, you just might find him showing up at an open mic and playing a set.
What will you find in his music? Well, that would be his interpretation of life’s journey of love, events, struggles, and obstacles- As well as a vivid imagination that tends to get expressed.
His goal is to create timeless, touching -relatable songs pertaining to events that upon listening to the lyrics you may find yourself reflecting upon your own personal situations.
Tim says- “My hope is that my songs find a place of joy, happiness, excitement, and motivation for everyone. No bad vibes!”

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I had been working on a number of songs and was getting them in order for studio recording. I happened to be up late playing guitar and noticed the smell of smoke. There was a loud storm going on outside, so I was actually trying to be louder.
Upon my investigation I found the attic filled with smoke – during 4 hours of attempting to put all the small fires out the fire department was called.
Long story short, my family and I spent the next 9 months living out of a hotel. During that time, I continued to write and complete the album. While being the general contractor for my home getting repaired.
Come to find out lightning had hit our home and started small electrical fires in the majority of the wires in the attic.
While all of this was going on, my son in HS – before graduating decided he was getting married- wouldn’t you know all of this was happening during -covid-
There were many more detail but those were the highlights.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
If Y’all want real New Music to still exist, Not the scraps their feeding Ya – there’s gonna have to be some major changes!
Music is a strange animal. There are different genres that tend to limit the artists delivery. The music industry manages to maintain control of everything heard. Artists who actually create original material will be subjected to give it to a recognized artist to use if they want it to be globalized.
Streaming platforms will dump your music once you pay a distributor to list your songs if the platform determines your plays come from AI. You will have no recourse but to having your music taken off. I’ve had this happen several times in the last month when people were listening way too much –
Streaming platforms will pay out .003 percent of a penny if your song happens to get played.
There’s not allot of people that buy music from anyone, – let alone an indie artist.
So, if you are paying out of your own pocket to produce your song and have it studio quality. You may be out of pocket in the ranges of 1200.00-3000.00 per song – not considering the time and energy you put into the writing.
If your able to play at local venues Note – if they aren’t spending money on a ticket to hear you- your probably not getting heard.
If an indie artist makes it to a major platform – it’s a miracle – I’m looking for a miracle
