We were lucky to catch up with Tim Krause recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tim, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
The defining moment of my career came when I decided to become a Men’s Coach. I was at a point of in my life where I felt very unfulfilled professionally, and it seemed like I was simply going through the motions in my career, my relationship, and pretty much every aspect of my life. Everything in my life seemed to be great on the outside, but inside I was suffering, and couldn’t shake the feeling of emptiness that seemed to be constant in my body. It finally got to a point where I felt like I had no other options, and needed to make drastic changes in my life.
In the past, my typical tendencies and patterns would’ve been to continue to numb myself and find some temporary relief from the pain and shame I felt through a number of coping mechanism like drugs and alcohol, porn, and overworking myself to exhaustion. This time, I knew if I kept using those same patterns I would stay stuck in the cycle of suffering I’d been in and nothing would really change. Instead, I decided to fully invest in myself and my mental, physical and emotional health. I joined a men’s group, hired a 1:1 men’s coach, started therapy and joined a workout program at the gym. I leaned heavily into practices like breathwork, meditation and journaling to help keep myself grounded, and I committed to going 4 weeks without alcohol.
Through this period, I found an incredible amount of support, accountability and connection through the men’s work community. Without them, I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten through that time in my life. I finally had the space and resources to connect to myself and my emotions on a deeper level, and discover my true passion and purpose in men’s work. I was deeply inspired to help men on their own journeys in the same way I was in mine.
With lots of encouragement (and at times a firm nudge) from the men in my life, I launched my own Men’s Coaching business in May 2023. Since then, my life has completely changed. I feel deeply nourished by the work I do with men, and I am showing up in my relationships, community and the world in a more embodied, confident and grounded place.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m originally from Milwaukee, WI but moved around quite a bit growing up and have lived in many places like London, Charleston, SC and Nicaragua to name a few.
I got into Men’s coaching and breathwork after losing a close friend to suicide in 2019. After that experience, I realized that I didn’t have any tools or resources to process the grief, pain and sadness I was feeling. Eventually I found an organization called Evryman, and since then have been committed to developing emotional awareness, learning to use the breath to connect to my body and feel my emotions on a deeper level, and to live authentically and purposefully.
I soon realized that so many of the men I knew in my life were going through something similar. When I began to share more about my experience and the work I was doing on myself, I quickly realized so many men were wanting the same thing, but didn’t know where to start or how to begin the process of connecting more deeply to themselves and their communities. This inspired me to begin supporting and guiding men using my the tools and knowledge I gained in my journey. I help men to develop emotional awareness, cultivate deeper and more grounded presence and awareness, get clear on their core values and who their most authentic self truly is and how to bring their lives into alignment with that version of themselves.
I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had on the men that I’ve worked with so far. Witnessing men drastically change their lives and finally feel like they can be themselves and express the core truth of who they are as a result of the work we did together is incredibly rewarding because I know how difficult that process can be for men, especially when they try to do it alone (which most men do).
I offer 1:1 private coaching, a Men’s Group Coaching Program and also group and private Transformational Breathwork sessions.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the most important aspect in the coaching and men’s work field is authenticity. This industry has grown significantly in a very short amount of time, and there is so much information out there about what a coach should offer, what they should be doing/teaching, how much they should be charging, etc. In my experience, ultimately what matters most is sharing, teaching and guiding from a place of authenticity and real experience. A coach and mentor of mine always told me, “teach what you know”, and I’ve tried to follow that principle as much as possible. If I haven’t gone through a specific process or experience, or done a certain practice consistently for a long time, I won’t share it with a client. Doing this actually allows me to be the most impactful I can be in coaching and facilitation, and also helps to attract clients that are most aligned with what I offer and how I offer it.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The book that changed my life is “From the Core: A New Masculine Paradigm for Leading with Love, Living your Truth and Healing the World” by John Wineland. I found this book when I was pretty much at rock bottom, and it became the anchor I used to keep myself grounded, take full ownership and accountability for everything in my life and begin to take action to heal and start living in a more authentic and aligned way.
One of the biggest lessons I learned from that book was the masculine principle that we are fully responsible for everything that is in our lives. That includes our finances, our jobs, the state of our relationship, our community. Quite literally, everything. In this book, John brilliantly illustrates how even those aspects of our lives our impacted in some way by others, we are still responsible for them. This concept and John’s teachings helped guide me out of a place of victimhood, bitterness and resentment to an empowered state of radical honesty, accountability and truth. It’s been the foundation from which I’ve been able to grow, heal and start build the life I’ve always truly desired.
