We were lucky to catch up with Tim Furlow recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tim thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Sooner, because I would’ve been the tattooer i am today 10 years ago as opposed to having to go through working in the medical field for 8.5 years, trying to figure out the next move.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Tim Furlow, I’m a tattooer, artist, and illustrator. I’ve been tattooing 11 years. I’ve been an artist all my life. When the opportunity came to acquire a free apprenticeship I jumped at the chance. The style I work in is a combination of techniques I’ve added to my trick bag over the years. I guarantee a custom piece with every tattoo. I’m most proud of the my work and how far I’ve come technically and artistically.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing every morning I wake up I get to draw for a living! The things I did as a kid, from doodling on test papers to scribbling on the Sunday church program. Those actions made me who I am today.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The goal has always been do what makes you happy. For me, that journey is never ending. I’m always going to take the road to happiness. I urge everyone does the same.
