We were lucky to catch up with Tim Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.

Tim, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

The love for graphic t-shirts and fashion contributed to the idea to create my very own clothing brand. First I needed something that would attract the locals, and that would peek the interest of everyone else. I decided on “DaS’EM’ Rite Dey!!” D.E.R.D.™️ Apparel. “Das’ Em’ Rite Dey”-a term used to confirm a location of a person,place,or thing;
to confirm any form of completion. It’s a the Geechie way of saying “That’s it right there.” I love to express creativity and also love help others express their own creativity through my brand. I feel that D.E.R.D.™️ Apparel does just that and has been for the past 3 and years.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

D.E.R.D.™️ Apparel was established January 2020. This clothing brand caters to men, women, and children. D.E.R..D.™️ provide T-shirts, hats, hoodies, sweatshirts and sweatsuits. I can provide Custom Colorways and most clothing are made to order. I’m proud that I have came so far and have fought tirelessly through many adversities, as I had to learn the ups and downs of business. It’s been a long road, but wouldn’t change a mile!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Creativity helped me build my reputation and customer service helps me keep it! It’s like basketball. Creativity is your offense which will sell the tickets and Customer service is the defense that will help you win the game!!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

Social media and word of mouth are your strongest assets. People see and like what’s posted on social platforms, and they see and like what an individual may have on in person. Like I said, I provide custom colorways so when someone see a design that I’ve made for a certain sneaker, that’s a definite plus.
