We recently connected with Til Doomsday (aiyana Rose) and have shared our conversation below.
Til Doomsday, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents have always just let me be me. I never felt the pressure of having to be like them, or like others. It has made it so that when other people try to tell me how I should be, it doesn’t affect me.
Til Doomsday, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In 2022, I started showcasing my paintings at local art walks. Inititially my painting style drew inspiration from the anime series Samurai Champloo, which brought me a sense of comfort amidst the chaotic nature of my artistic journey. Using acrylic paint, I attempted to recreate the impressionism and vibrancy in my artwork. Painting was a medium I had little experience with, I found myself unable to fully control the outcome of my creations. This dynamic was reflective of the human condition and painting grew to be my favorite medium. Til Doomsday is my unapologetic expression of -self.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Definitely, one of the video creators that encouraged me to put myself out there was Brema of Unfinished Legacy. He is a talented screen printer & creative director. Through his content I decided to share my own journey of learning a skillset. He has reached such incredible achievements now to, its so good too see. As well as this poem by Rober Frost recently titled “the road not taken”. It can be hard to explain where the risk taking & confidence in myself comes from. The poem just says things well.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The first goal of my existence in the art realm was to conquer myself, my own fears and anxieties about existing today. Since that has been a success now I want to inspire others to act on their ideas, just be an example of someone who wasn’t necessarily taught these things were possible from areas that don’t house art deeply in the community. You can be or create that inspiring art, that fire for someone who has it in them too.
