We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tijuana Green a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tijuana, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
I have had the thought in the past that I wished I started to pursue my dreams sooner. I was hesitant to start a YouTube channel for at least 5 years, I was always waiting for the “Perfect Moment”. Waiting to have the best camera, the best lighting, a recording studio and etc. I soon realized that the perfect moment would never transpire, that day I decided to make a plan. Once I made that plan, hit my goals I took the leap of faith.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights nd we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I got into ASMR by one day stumbling across an ASMR eating video in YouTube. I was intrigued and fell in love. I’m a huge foodie and I love entertaining so I figured this might be my calling. My content assist my supporters with anxiety, depression, Insomnia and etc. I noticed my audience loved when I ate Seafood Boils and I would get so many questions on how was my sauce so thick and red. This inspired me to start selling my Mmm Sauce as a product.
I believe what sets me apart from others is I try to show love to all of my supporters. I feel like all of my supporters deserve a reply back, you took the time to give feedback or to express that you love my content. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my supporters so I love to show them love.
I’m most proud of my tenacity, my YouTube channel Mmm ASMR and my Mmm Sauce are my babies. I put my all into making great content for my Mmmies. I take a lot of pride in my Mmm Sauce from the taste quality and customer service. I also am very proud that my children get to witness their mommy pursuing her dreams. They get to see all the hard work that goes into it and they’re very proud of me.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When you’re first starting a YouTube channel, the natural thing to do is go research. You tend to research “How To” start a YouTube channel, how to grow a channel and etc. There’s 100,000’s of videos and you can take in so much information. If you’re not careful you can learn all of the wrong information that can do more harm than good. I had to unlearn everything that I learned and stick to the basics. Focus on what I’m passionate about and becoming better, staying consistent and being myself. This has definitely helped me.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I remember when I was about two years into creating content on my YouTube channel Mmm ASMR and I wanted to call it quits. It was all becoming so much for me to juggle and all the commitments were starting to take a toll on my mental. I was working a full-time job, I was homeschooling my four children, being a wife and creating content for 30,000+ supporters.
My passion and dream was to be a fulltime social media influencer. It’s what made me the happiest, I could give back to the world. I felt appreciated and loved by supporters. But it was becoming to much for me to maintain. My 9-5 wasn’t fulfilling to me at all, I would actually get depressed every Sunday knowing I had to clock in the next day.
I could’ve easily given up on my passion and dreams. I mean it was too much responsibility. So I had a choice to make either stop creating content and following my dreams or continue to try and balance it all until I can quit my 9-5.
I couldn’t give up on my dream so my husband and I came up with an exit plan for my 9-5. If I had quit I wouldn’t be as happy and in peace as I am now. I look through the rear view mirror of my life. I realize even though things didn’t always go as planned , the results are beyond my expectations. The exciting part is I’m just getting started!
