Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiimy Reid. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tiimy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
All of the skills that’s in my resume is 110% self taught I graduated from YouTube University after dropping out of college on day three. Yes the tools were gifted to me, but there was no instructions or anything. If I “messed up” I would just alter it to my liking that actual worked out excellent for me!
You could never speed up a creative process trying will only result to an unfinished creation. The creative process has a lot of component’s to it which allows all of your undivided attention it doesn’t start when you pick up a brush or even take that photo. Creatives make sure to take the time out to see if your project is fully up to your standards!
The skills that were most essential was outside of the creative realm for example I had to learn the power of organization. Sometimes as a multimedia artist I can get massive clutter just by figuring out what I want to create next! The skills are the ones you use in everyday life time management, organization, observation etc.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Greetings Earthlings, my name is Tiimy Reid and I’m a nonbinary Maryland based Freelance Multimedia Artist! Just a country kid who got use to big city living that definitely did not beat the, “weird kid” allegations. It was June 2017 where I was standing there with my diploma in hand and all I could think of is, “What’s Next?”. I started off following family traditions which landed me into college, but after 3 days of unhappiness I just left school all together. With this decision I open the door to explore my artistic powers hoping that I could at least see where I could go with it. Knowing my family already I decided to take the traditions in a different route while keeping the same values. I’m most proud of myself for keeping the word my childhood self gave to me I couldn’t do none of this without them. It was my huge love for books, films, and real dramatic theater outings that helps me adapt seamlessly through any project. Fast forward to 2024 I’m now a successful artist of 8 years who has just been crowned LED Baltimore’s Billboard Veteran! My creations have been published internationally in numerous magazines, including Canvas Rebel, Poza Magazine, and Gmaro collaborating with beautiful beings all over the states. My versatile skills have allowed my to work with favorites such as cupcakKe, Hunt Dawg, Bby Africka, and so many more.
My services include:
Photography: Editorial, Concert, Beauty, and Commercial
Graphic Design
Styling
Creative Direction (Photoshoots or Music Videos)
Painting Commissions
Videography (This is a new venture)
Booking/Collaborating with me is an experience my goal is to make you satisfied with your memories! Outside of safety, comfort is really my biggest concern if you’re not comfortable I’m not plain and simple. I’m open to work with any being who has a creative vision that aligns right with my artistry. For creatives who need commercial work done for their outlets I have opened up a barter system to help you build your portfolio.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The fact that everyday is new adventure waiting to happen is the reward! One minute the muse is a mythical being, and the next I’m in NYC shooting CupcakKe in front of 1,000 of screaming queers. I have a whole storybook collection of adventures that I can’t wait to share/hopefully inspire my future kids!
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Being a creative is a sacred practice it really takes confidence to display your art to the world. These pieces that I create really comes from the soul like the meanings come from the deepest part of my mind. It’s a risk because a non creative can look at it giving it the most foul review that could send you spiraling if you don’t have thick skin. Throughout this journey I have created for me and me only! All those sleepless nights with paint, drowsy eyes, and lots of tears were for me I knew all that work would definitely pay off. I don’t like to look at things from a business aspect either that’s how things/people get hurt not caring that the true matter at hand. Always create for you not because you think it’s going to be a quick buck … come look at all the ingredients I need just to create one photo out of the 20 I just selected.
