We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiia Potry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiia below.
Tiia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risk I’ve taken was leaving behind a stable career in the marketing industry to follow my soul calling and create Inner Wild, a wellness brand offering retreats and holistic wellness.
I was successful on paper, but inside I felt disconnected and burnt out. Not just physically, but emotionally. Sometimes, it’s pain that pushes you to take the leap you’ve been avoiding. In my case, it became a form of guidance, revealing that I was living by others’ expectations instead of my own truth. Through yoga and meditation, I reconnected with myself and began to understand and move through my fears.
Starting Inner Wild was a leap into the unknown, but also the most aligned decision I’ve ever made. It’s shown me that when your inner world shifts, everything around you begins to change. Now, I lead transformative retreats that help others find that same peace and clarity.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Tiia Potry, a yoga teacher, retreat leader, and founder of Inner Wild, a wellness brand that creates transformative retreat experiences in some of the most unique places on Earth.
Originally from Finland, I’ve always felt deeply connected to nature, and wildly curious about the world. I travel often, and with Inner Wild, I’ve blended my love for movement, mindfulness, and magical locations into retreats that help people reconnect not just with themselves, but also with the beauty around them.
Our retreats are soulful, intimate, and designed for those craving more peace, clarity, and purpose, but we keep it real. We dig deep, but we also laugh a lot, move our bodies, and soak in the scenery. Inner Wild is about true transformation, but also about feeling alive, playful, and connected.
You don’t have to be flexible, “spiritual,” or have your life all figured out, be just open, ready to slow down and trust your path.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
In my experience, the most important thing beyond formal training is doing the inner work. Self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a strong personal practice are essential. If you’re authentic, humble, and walk your talk, that creates real trust.
Also, consistency and patience. Building something meaningful takes time. You have to be okay with growing slowly, learning as you go, and staying aligned with your purpose even when things feel uncertain. Oh, and community. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and keep you accountable. You don’t have to do it all alone.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely! One of the most influential books for me has been “Let My People Go Surfing” by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia. This book reshaped my approach to entrepreneurship, emphasizing that business should be a force for good, not just profit. Chouinard’s philosophy of balancing business with social and environmental responsibility deeply resonates with how I want to run Inner Wild. It reminded me that the heart of a business should align with values, and doing so authentically can create real impact.
