Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Woodson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear you experience with and lessons learned from recruiting and team building.
The business Started as a few Designers that were very talented, more talented than I was. I noticed that amongst our strengths we were able to cover each other’s weaknesses. With the trust and quality work ethics that my team possessed, hiring more talent wasn’t super challenging because it generally came in the way of a designer saying, “I know this super talented person that’s looking to change jobs….” Then suddenly we had another employee. This has been the most successful way of hiring because if our A+ staff is saying someone else is good, it’s almost always been true. Our process is unusual because its organic. I don’t believe there is ever a position open, I just believe that if someone is so talented, they are worth hiring, we find a way to work them in. I can’t say I would ever change the way our company has developed because we are where we are, we love where we are, and we are cherishing these times.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have been able to build a niche in the Interior design community because of the talent on our team. We are not only artists, decorators, and designers, we are also Architects and more important, multifaceted creators. We serve projects as a whole, from concepting with the greater team, landscape Designers, exterior Architects and the clients, all the way through finishing touches with the ownership. We Found that most interior firms were not great at documenting their design, but we can do both, which helps resolve problems earlier and ensure quality. We are so proud of the fact that we help execute client’s visions to the highest level using their ideas, taking them to the next level and then curating and executing the design– that’s why I say we don’t have an aesthetic, our aesthetic is quality, but it never looks like a copy paste.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of clients for us has been Repeat work and other advocates such as peers in the industry. We have a lot of repeat clients because we try our best to make their lives easier. We build trust, then it is one less thing they need to worry about on their plate. Eventually as our clients change jobs or evolve in their career, they take us with them, and it snowballs.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding things as a Creative business owner is that being yourself, authentically and truly can be financially rewarding. If you can put the right people together, a creative and an executor, in any capacity, an artist with a business manager, a designer and an architect, etc., magic is possible! The world needs design and is expecting design more than ever– we are very blessed to finally be able to make a living doing something that feels second nature. Its not a luxury anymore, to be competitive in the market it’s a necessity for our clients.
