We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Woerz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
My business is my passion and I absolutely love what I do. The journey to get where I am now has definitely been rocky and hard at times, but it’s been so worth it. There has been times when I’ve thought about what it would be like to just work a regular job. For example, there’s been a lot of times where I’ve worked most of the day and have the stress from work throughout the whole week. When you work at most 9-5 jobs you don’t have to worry about the stress of running your own business and the work you have to do. When your in the beginning stages of running your own business your the one who calls all the shots and is 100% responsible for where it goes. So at times I have thought about what it would be like to just work a 9-5 and not have as much to worry about. However, I wouldn’t trade it in because I love what I do and am super passionate about it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Tiffany! I am an adventure elopement photographer meaning I photograph intimate weddings usually of 15 people or less. I am based in California and mostly serve there as well as Oregon and Washington. I help couples plan their dream elopements and bring them to life.
Ever since I was little I loved photography and used to use my mom’s point and shoot to photograph everything from nature and people. I got my own point and shoot camera when I was in elementary school and couldn’t put it down. In high school I got my first DSLR camera and started taking portraits of my friends. Then in college I did a ton of fun creative shoots and then I photographed my friend and her boyfriend. After my first couples shoot I loved telling the story between two people and learned about what adventure elopements are. I found the idea of photographing adventure elopements way more exciting then traditional weddings. I resonated with adventure elopements because I love the outdoors, hiking and traveling. I also love storytelling and how I have more time to create unique photos compared to a traditional wedding. One of my favorite parts about helping my clients is that I get to be so active in the planning process for their elopements. From helping them pick their elopement location to assisting them in finding vendors and even helping them come up with ideas for activities to do during their elopement. I couldn’t think of a better job.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first started my business I graduated from my university in 2020 right into the pandemic and I had no clue where to even start with launching my photography business. I went through so many different courses and even mentorships that helped me somewhat, but I still was not getting the inquiries I needed. I invested a lot of money and tried so many different things with marketing, but still was lost. I finally made an investment to join an elopement photography mastermind and get a business coach. She helped to hold me accountable and come up with a game plan for marketing to get where I need to be in my business. It has been a journey, but this business has created a lot of resilience in me to continue on through the ups and downs.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Google ads and SEO (search engine optimization) have always been my main source of new clients. I think as an elopement photographer it’s great to spend your time investing into your SEO. A lot of my clients go straight to Google to search for elopement photographers. Google ads have also been great for me when I feel like I need more inquiries.
