Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Wideman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Absolutely! Traveling allows me to reset. As a Realtor serving several clients at once, a wife, a mom of 6, and caregiver to my autistic adult niece, I’m constantly taking care of people. Every day I’m busy driving all over upstate South Carolina for my family or my business Even when I’m home there is always something that needs to be done, or a person who needs my attention. Getting away allows me to have a break from the day to day hustle and bustle. It also allows my brain to take a little bit of a break from keeping up with crazy schedules. When I travel I love admiring the differences in cultures. Even if it’s regional differences. Like Florida is the south, but doesn’t have sweet tea, and how the land is so flat in Houston, TX unlike our rolling land in SC.
Vacations also bring me profound gratitude. Both being financial able, and seeing the visual beauty in other lands fills my heart, and make me so appreciative and ready to get back to work.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Tiffany Wideman. I’ve been married to Jermaine, my high school sweetheart, for almost 17 years. We’ve been together 24 years total, and we have 6 children. Three boys and three girls whose ages range from 20 to 4. Our house holds a party of 9 when you include my niece who also lives with us. Needless to say, there’s never a dull moment in the Wideman household.
I’m also a top producing real estate agent in upstate sc. I began my real estate career as a young 24 yr old in 2007…during one of the worst real estate markets in history. At that time I didn’t have much success in the industry at all! However, I knew that I loved it, and would come back to it at some point in my life. In 2019, I was working in the corporate world, and loved my job but felt so unfulfilled. After searching my heart for what I should be doing I quickly realized if I wanted to pursue my passion of selling real estate it was then or never. So I took the steps to get licensed again. In Jan 2020 I completely stepped out on faith and quit my corporate job to become a full time agent. I knew I couldn’t take care of my big family, work full time, and build my business, so I had to jump all in, and failure was not an option.
The thing that makes my business different is that I’m truly in this business to take care of people, and use my knowledge and skills to help them. My prayer is to be a service, and a blessing to people during their journey to reach their real estate goals. I’ll never think of money over my client’s best interest. I’m going to answer my phone. I want to answer all of my client’s questions.
My heart and intentions are always pure, so a lot of my business is due to referrals now because my clients feel that and share their experience with their friends and family. One of my brokerage’s mottos is “win win or no deal”, so I always look for ways that everyone in the transaction will win, while also making sure my clients best interest is first and foremost. Those things are what makes me different.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
To build a successful real estate business you have to learn resilience. Mine was built during the 1st quarter of 2021. During those first 3 months I had 7 deals fall through, and only 2 deals that closed. Real estate agents only get paid if a deal closes, so I was devastated. There was so much time and effort that went into each deal that I never made a dime from. As well as people who really needed homes who either walked away, or weren’t able to secure financing for the home they intended to buy. I almost quit. Doubt kicked in big time. Even through all the compliments, affirmations, and reassurance from others about the quality of the service I provide, I was unsure if I was doing the right thing. Thankfully, I weathered that storm and still needed up making nearly 20k more in that year than I’d ever made in my life, up to that point.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Referrals and social media. I’ve been shocked by the business I’ve gained from social media from people that I didn’t even know where following me. The ones that never like any posts, but support my work.
