We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Tynes-Gonzales. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I have been able to earn a full time living as a creator and I absolutely love it. My journey started in 2014 when I portrayed Nicki Minaj in a parody that is currently over 117 million views! From there, I just kept going. Of course there have been obstacles but I personally love obstacles. I do think that over the years, the information and things I have learned about the industry as well as what I am capable, I do think I could have sped up the process knowing what I know now, however, I am grateful for being patient and going at the pace I have. It makes things that much more rewarding!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In 2007, I moved to Los Angeles, CA with $350 for rent to live in a friend’s living room.
I have always been an actor/performer first so while I was planning my hustle in Hollywood, I was able to get a job at Universal Studios Hollywood performing in multiple shows while simultaneously working on the side doing television/film background acting work to pay the bills.
Over the years, I would go on to land dream come true opportunities including dancing for Beyoncé, working with Will Smith, Joaquin Phoenix, co-starring alongside Daniel Tosh in Comedy Central’s Tosh.0, among other projects which would lead me to say goodbye to Universal Studios Hollywood and background acting. In 2014, something happened that really changed my life.
I became an overnight social media sensation. YouTuber and friend of mine, Bart Baker, asked me to portray Nicki Minaj in his “Anaconda” music video Parody and I accepted the offer. Once the parody was released, I was trending everywhere on social media. From there, I began making my own content as well as took the leap into other avenues that I have always loved such as fitness, fashion and beauty professionally.
Now, I currently own 3 businesses. I have a production company (Another Funny One Productions), a boutique, Xo, Tiffany™, and my fitness brand Fierce Fit Club By Tiffany™ that is also partnered with Amazon!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Really, the most rewarding aspect of being a creator is making people smile. Knowing that people come to my platforms when they are having a bad day because they know my content will cheer them up, that is the biggest reward.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Well, once I went viral, I continued to stay consistent with my content. That is the biggest key to building a social media presence, consistency. You never know who is watching your content so don’t be timid about posting. Also, not being too wrapped up in “likes” is also key. Enjoy the content you create and those who rock with you, will love it always!
