We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Spradley recently and have shared our conversation below.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I do have a creative mission that fuels the end goal of my content creation. While sharing food content as a Digital Content Creator is my niche, there is an aspect of the food content that I’m more interested in sharing than the content that I currently share. Folks love to see the comfort food, the cheese pull, the rare steak, the perfectly crisp chicken pot pie, the magnificent 12 layer chocolate cake and while I love sharing these dishes and recipes, I’m extremely interested in the food ways of the south and sharing the history behind the reasons that we eat the foods that we do. For example, rice and gravy was a staple in my home as a child. For holidays instead of mashed potatoes and gravy, we have rice and gravy. Many folks around the world have commented or messaged me that we should be eating mashed potatoes instead of rice. What these folks don’t know is that the first cultivation of rice in the United States was right here in Charleston, South Carolina. I’d love to share content highlighting delicious food but also make it full circle by acknowledging the food ways that got us where we are today.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey as a digital content creator has had its ups and downs. There have been times when content did not excel like I predicted or the negative comments just got to me on a particular day. There have been brand deals that fell through or that I did not see come to fruition like I’d hoped. Since beginning my journey, I’ve been sought out by producers and casting directors looking for home cooks or folks like me for different projects that could bring a lot of exposure to myself and to Sunday in South Carolina and while these opportunities were exciting and made me hopeful, I often was not able to invest into the commitment of time that was required. In digital content creation, just like any business, resilience and perseverance is key. As they say in Finding Nemo, “Just Keep Swimming”.
