We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Pagan and Sam Geddings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany & Sam below.
Tiffany & Sam, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
To be honest, we have learned the art of podcasting through trial and error and listening to other podcasts like ours. We definitely could have done more research and networking before starting our own venture, however Sam and I both feel that jumping in and doing whatever we have to do is the best way to learn.
Strong communication skills, editing skills, and networking are key to developing a successful brand and show. The only thing that may hold us back from diving in deep would be our full-time jobs, as this started out as a hobby, however we prioritize our time more than ever now because the podcast is important to us.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Tiffany and Sam, two moms that live in South Carolina who want to spread awareness of the reality of true crime and homicide cases to anyone who will listen. We created our podcast, Cola City Crime, that focuses on cases local to North and South Carolina, and we research these cases with any resources available to us- local law enforcement, court documents, etc.
We release a brand new episode every weekend that explores the case of either a victim, multiple victims, or the murderer themselves. Although we do focus some of our cases on the assailant, our goal is to focus on the victim and their precious life that was lost. We are here to advocate for everyone’s safety in regards to true crime and the potential “what if” scenarios that are a very scary reality.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The main thing that drives us to continue to put out content and to make sure our research is accurate and detailed would be the victims that we discuss. Sam’s husband is from Sumter, SC and he has many people in his life who have either went missing with no explanation or are victims of homicide, so the subject hits close to home for her and her family. For Tiffany, after becoming a mother she has realized the reality of who people are or what their potential is, and since she has worked with a diverse group of people all her life, she has become more aware of the scary possibilities and wants other people to be educated on these as well. There are truly scary people in the world, and we need to be armed with the tools and knowledge to defend ourselves in any way necessary.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being podcast hosts for us would be the end result. We are so proud to publish our episodes every week, and to hear that people are waiting on our content and truly enjoy what we put out there is very satisfying. Our hobby has turned into a passion and if we can help at least one family gain closure with our podcast, then we feel we are a success.
