We recently connected with Tiffany Rucker and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career.
If I could change one thing about the educational system, it would be to make financial education a substantial part of middle and high school requirements. I believe that children, especially minority students, need to graduate with a solid foundation in finances. Money is a tool that they will use for the rest of their lives, yet only a half of a credit is dedicated to financial education.
I believe proper financial education could be the answer to solve the debt crisis in America. If children were taught how to successfully manage their money and credit, they would be empowered to make better financial decisions. This would lead to them being able to enter society as productive, financially stable citizens. Producing financially savvy young adults into society could change the entire trajectory of their lives and that of their children.
Tiffany , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tiffany Rucker and I am the agency owner of All Aboard Financial. All Aboard Financial is a virtual full-service CFO, Accounting and Insurance Firm.
I entered the financial services industry in 2018 as an Independent Life Insurance Agent. I added CFO and Accounting Services in late 2020, after having an experience with a negligent tax preparer. The mistakes that preparer made cost me a little over $22,000 dollars. The entire experience was devasting and embarrassing and one that I never want anyone else to experience.
Now, my mission is to provide accurate tax, accounting and insurance education to the masses while also preparing returns legally, ethically and compliantly.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When I made the transition to work for myself full-time, I was convinced that I would be able to set a traditional 40-hour work schedule and accomplish big goals. I quickly learned that full-time entrepreneurship requires 60+ hours starting out.
I utilized the long hours to develop systems and processes to automate my business. Once I was able to automate, my schedule was able to adjust closer to a traditional work week.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
When it comes to keeping in touch with my clients, I set my follow up calendar around important dates such as birthdays, anniversary’s or any other special occasion.
If they are a small business owner, I watch their social media for updates about special events or offerings. I make note of the event’s dates and follow up twice, once before and once after to see how the event turned out.
I also keep up to date on changes in tax laws and will send industry specific content to clients to assist them in their tax planning for the upcoming tax season.
