Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffany Roldan-Howell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tiffany, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Hey, Thanks for having me! The story behind my mission is personal.
I’ve experienced first hand how false beliefs and anxiety kept me from thriving in my own life. I understand the consequences that result from not having the people, resources or tools to help combat self-deprecating and intrusive thoughts. I know what it’s like to feel completely stagnant in life as if there’s no possible way to rise from the darkness. That was my reality for a long time and I masked it well.
But on the flip side, I’ve also experienced first hand how perspectives can shift. How commitment to certain practices reconnected me to my higher self. How being intentional and ACTIVELY believing in my own divine abilities transformed my life completely.
The life I am living now, I couldn’t even dream of seven years ago. Yet with the proper guidance, I was able to manifest it in three & it’s because I did the inner work necessary to get me here.
That’s why our mission at Affirm Your Abundance is to transform the way you experience your thoughts in order to transform the way you experience your life.
We support inspired professionals by providing coaching and mental wellness tools such as breath work and mindfulness techniques that they can implement in order to manage their thoughts, emotions, expectations and live the abundant life they are worthy of.
That is my mission and I feel so blessed to be on it.
Tiffany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Of course, my name is Tiffany Roldan-Howell and I am a transformational life coach/podcaster & now author. As a person diagnosed with ADHD as a child and being raised in a Caribbean household, I wasn’t taught many ways to manage or even understand my emotions. I was taught, as most people in our society, to suppress feelings, traumas, and actions in order to “fit in” and “be good”.
But all that suppressing I was doing manifested into deep depression and an anxiety disorder resulting in black out panic attacks by my mid-twenties. Finally, in 2017 I decided to get help.
After seeing many doctors and therapists without much success, I hired a life coach to help me get back on track. She guided me in ways that really advanced my healing. My progress and transformation along with her coaching style made me realize that there was a NEED for this type of assistance in my community.
So, in 2019 I became certified in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), created my first company & started a podcast with the same name “Affirm Your Abundance”. All for motivated professionals like me who are looking to take their first steps of transforming their lives by transforming their thoughts.
I truly believe you live a more abundant life when there is clarity versus confusion. Once I incorporated certain practices and understood certain concepts, I was able to live in the present moment, and experience just how abundant my life really is. It has been an honor to be able to guide people to do the same.
Since then I have had the opportunity to become an amazon best-selling author, host retreats, speak at local schools and events plus more. However, the most rewarding aspect of my organization thus far has been my opportunity to help dozens of abundant professionals reprogram their subconscious false beliefs in order for them to build a relationship with their authentic selves and experience life from a state of mind that further promotes their healing and mental wellness.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
On my personal journey I had to unlearn every single belief I ever had about myself and decide how I wanted to view myself moving forward in my life organically. Not based on parental, spousal or social pressure. That lesson was HUGE because up until then I really wasn’t living for myself. I was living to please others. Even when recalling the “goals” I had for myself, they weren’t my own. They were goals passed down to me that stemmed from my ancestors deeply rooted trauma.
I was suffering so deep that for a while I consciously couldn’t acknowledge the dark state I was in. However, it opened my eyes to the fact that there’s only so much the body can take and we shouldn’t have to wait until desperate moments to intentionally make a change for the better. My unlearning helped me understand:
Everyone doesn’t hate me, that’s anxiety.
I wasn’t overly emotional, I empathize deeply.
I wasn’t too much, I’m lively!
I’m not a mood killer, I experience sensory overload.
I’m not cold, I respect my boundaries.
I’m not arrogant, I’m inspired.
And these beliefs are just to name a few.
Now I work in a profession where all we do is unlearn and renovate and I LOVE IT! (Laughs)
What my clients and I realize through the course of our one-on-one session is that the thoughts that we have about ourselves sometimes are not even truly our own. That we have a choice in the response we give to certain situations and beliefs. It becomes exciting to unlearn behaviors and thought processes that don’t align with the next level of our journey.
I’ve found that everyone’s lessons to unlearn are different yet beautiful. So being able to witness a person unlearn a limiting belief, and then do the work to instill a new belief that better aligns them with their goals and then watch them crush that goal… I mean, it fuels me. it’s why I do what I do.
& I love that you asked this question because I hope it encourages more people to “unlearn” a thing or two for their own sake <3
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Well, life is all about pivoting isn’t it? While I’ve made many, the most recent and rewarding has been pivoting from my role in Corporate America to working for myself and the community full-time.
In 2017 I transitioned from the pharmacy field into the education sector and was enjoying the experience of being a student advisor. Unfortunately, in late 2020 due to the pandemic the university I was working for started implementing practices I didn’t believe were ethical to gain more students.
By this time I already started the AYA brand but admittedly fear of the unknown direction from the pandemic blocked my better judgement. So instead of leaving, I stayed for months having meeting after meeting with presentations trying to shine light on what was happening & how we can become better… only to be disrespected & ultimately ignored. I realized this wasn’t were I wanted to invest my energy anymore so I turned in my two week resignation.
After sending my resignation, I found a note in my phone’s notepad. This note was created a year prior and it was a Quit Day letter I wrote my boss while manifesting. The letter stated “My last day will be April 30th” and divinely enough, April 30, 2021 was my last day in corporate America! ❤️ Things like this happen to me all the time and I’m happy to have the awareness to witness and revel in it.
The journey as an entrepreneur hasn’t been an easy one, but ultimately there’s nothing like knowing the energy your investing in yourself and your clients today will bring forth the abundance of blessings for tomorrow.
