We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tiffany Nothwang a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Being a faith based company, we knew we wanted a name that reflected that but was still catchy. Since we seek prayer from beginning to completion of each project, there is a definite divine aspect to every design and event!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
We started with friends and family birthday parties back in 2018, then we are a small event company run by myself and best friend of more than 11 years, Jessica Delamarter. We are both homeschooling moms with a passion for party decor and design so decided to take a major leap of faith during the pandemic and started an event company. We offer all inclusive party decor and service packages as well as luxe picnics. With over 10 years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, I knew I wanted to serve the people but in a more creative way.
We started with friends and family birthday parties and then branched out into themed party and picnics during Covid because we understood the importance that gathering has for the soul. We believe that we were not created to be alone and celebrations are a taste of what is to come. That is why so many people spend thousands of dollars on parties, hosting and weddings.
But they don’t have to- and that is what sets us a part from other event companies. Jess and I want to get to know our clients, become friends with them and create beautiful memories for them while offering prayer and support. We live to serve and love others while helping support our families!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Jess and I really want to put our restaurant experience to use and offer all inclusive decor packages to venues here in San Diego. There are so many great establishments that host events here in San Diego and offering an all inclusive package, especially to brides, could create a huge draw and set the venue a part from other competition. Plus we know how to run restaurants and all that it entails to do so. Management may not have all the time to run a restaurant and help with every special event need. Enter Divine Design! We know how to keep the venue staff and bride to be accommodated
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Friends and family can only get you so far and sometimes it is “who you know” We’ve done weddings and parties for friends that paid little but gained a wealth of experience in the process.
Expect that your first year of business. Gaining a wealth of knowledge through trials and experience may be your greatest pay check
