We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tiffany Nelson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tiffany below.
Tiffany, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
When City Girls Who Walk Houston launched in May of 2022, there were many women from the Katy/Cypress/Richmond area attending the walks (in Houston). As we grew and added coffees, a monthly brunch, dance lessons, and other enrichment activites, the women from Katy continued participating. We started asking if they would attend walks and events in Katy if there was a local group, and the answer was a resounding, YES! So, in September of 2022, Katy Girls Who Walk launched with its first walk on a Tuesday evening at Rick Rice Park, and the rest is history. I established Katy Girls with the same standards as as City Girls: We welcome all women, all ages, including babies, toddlers, children, and friendly dogs on leashes; walks will always be free, on accessible routes, without any barriers such as registration forms or the expectation of participating in ice-breakers. It’s important that xxxxxxxx

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Katy Girls Who Walk is a women’s walking group in Katy, Texas, We are a sister organization of City Girls Who Walk Houston, part of a global community of women, We welcome all women, all ages, including babies, toddlers, children, and friendly dogs on leashes to our walks. In addition to walking, we also get together for coffee, brunch, and other educational and enrichment activities. Most of the women who walk with us are from Katy, Cypress, Richmond, Rosenberg, Fulshear and west Houston, although we have many who join from Sugarland,

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
That’s a great question! I think it comes down to authenticity and keeping things simple (and real), Our community trusts us because we are who we say we are, we do what we say we’re going to do, and we truly welcome all women of all ages. People feel good at our gatherings and want to come back and enjoy the good vibes again! We’ll have new moms with their babies, teenagers with their moms, and women in their 70’s with every age in between getting together to simply go on a walk. Everyone feels welcome and included and the experience seems to be very meaningful to everyone who joins us.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
This builds on the previous question of us being authentic and through that authenticity, trust has been built with our community. We keep it simple – we welcome all women, all ages. Period. We are who we say we are. We show up with smiling happy faces and we welcome everyone. One of the biggest things we do (which is a small thing) is begin our walks on time and we walk the distance we say we’re going to walk. Our community knows us and trusts us and our reputation has been built by us respecting and honoring our members. Further, it’s of great fortune that Katy Girls Who Walk is included in a larger network of women’s walking groups with impeccable reputations. Locally, we’re the sister group of City Girls Who Walk Houston, and globally we’re affiliated with City Girls Who Walk, which originated in New York City, and is now in cities around the world.
