We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany McGee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
When discussing what my parents did correctly and how my life is impacted, we must first address that my mother was my only parent, however, the family support of aunts and grandparents along with my mothers advice and upbringing have made me into the woman that I am today. One thing that my mother was big on is improvising. If you do not have exactly what you need , you figure out what else you can use to make it happen. I have applied that logic to my life. I did not know back then but my mother was teaching me critical thinking skills. Teaching me how to figure out issues and find solutions on my own without asking someone to do it for me. This also helped me to create the attitude of “I can do anything if I work towards it!” An example of this is when I was about 13 years old, my mother walked up to me and handed me a boxed perm and then said “perm your sisters hair.” I looked at her like she was crazy because I was 13, never been a hairstylist and never permed anyone’s hair before. We usually went to the beauty salon to get our hair done. I am not sure what changed at that time, but my mother looked at me and said, “here is the box, read the instructions and perm your sisters hair.” I was nervous , but I did what she told me to do and read those instructions and permed my sisters hair. I tell that story because it is just one example of my mother having the expectation that I will make it happen and all will be well. And it was. She saw in me what i did not see in myself. That upbringing provided me with the confidence to step out and do something different like becoming an entrepreneur. It has not been easy but I have the skills to resolve issues and stay consistent in my purpose. From my aunts and grandparents , i learned about family, community and the importance of being fiscally responsible. That knowledge has helped me understand what is important and how to make sure that we are covered in emergency situations. That is why i am so passionate about teaching others how to become financially literate and free.

Tiffany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
About Tiffany McGee & TMG Eyes On Finances
I’m Tiffany McGee; entrepreneur, educator, movement‑builder, and the heart behind TMG Eyes On Finances. My mission is simple but powerful: to educate and empower underserved communities so they can protect their families, build wealth, and create legacies that last.
But my mission didn’t start in a classroom or a boardroom.
It started with loss.
How I Got Into This Work
When I was 21 years old, my baby sister was killed at just 18. That moment changed everything for me. My mom had a small “just‑in‑case” policy; because that’s what we were taught; but it wasn’t enough. I watched my mother grieve her child while also experiencing financial strain no parent should ever have to face.
That was the first time I truly understood what protection means.
Not just emotionally — but financially.
Years later, in 2020, both of my grandparents passed away from COVID. That was my first experience dealing with probate. I watched my mother and her sisters navigate months of paperwork, legal fees, and stress; over $10,000 worth; all while grieving. I had always assumed that when someone passes, their family automatically receives their assets. I learned the hard way that this is not true.
Those two experiences; losing my sister and navigating probate for my grandparents; shaped my purpose. They taught me that families don’t just need love and support during hard times. They need protection, planning, and knowledge.
And that’s why I do what I do.

It’s a movement rooted in love, protection, and generational impact.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
There is a phrase that I use, I have heard from others in my industry and I take it to heart. “Mission before commission.” I put my clients first. We analyze the situation and come up with strategies to help them meet their goals. I also have a team that I work with to ensure that we are doing the absolute best for the client and their needs so I believe a few heads are better than one so we bounce ideas off of each other to make sure to look at each clients situation from every angle before determining the best strategy for them before presenting our ideas.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey has been shaped by moments that could have broken me; but instead, they built me.
When I was 21, I was away at college in Tallahassee when my younger sister was killed at just 18. Her death hit me harder than anything I had ever experienced. I was grieving, unfocused, and emotionally overwhelmed. There was a period where I didn’t know if I even wanted to continue living, and graduating felt almost impossible. But I pushed through. I finished school, even though I was carrying a weight no one could see.
That loss also opened my eyes to the importance of financial protection. My mom had a small “just‑in‑case” policy, but it wasn’t enough. Watching her grieve while also struggling financially planted the seed for the work I do today.
Years later, in 2020, both of my grandparents passed away from COVID. That was my first real experience with probate; the cost, the delays, the emotional toll. It took over $10,000 and months of time my family should have been using to heal. That experience taught me how critical estate planning is, especially for families who don’t think they need it.
And then in 2015, I went through a painful divorce. It wasn’t just the end of a marriage; it was a fight for my only child. Navigating that battle while trying to stay strong for my daughter stretched me in ways I didn’t know I could endure. But I did. I protected her, I rebuilt myself, and I came out stronger.
All of these moments — losing my sister, losing my grandparents, surviving divorce, fighting for my child — could have left me bitter or broken. Instead, they became the foundation of my purpose.
They taught me resilience.
They taught me compassion.
They taught me the importance of protection, planning, and peace.
And they shaped the mission behind Eyes On Finances: to help families avoid the financial and emotional chaos I lived through, and to empower them to build legacies rooted in love, not loss.
