We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Lindsey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Over a decade I had worked in various educational settings, a non-profit organization and behavioral health. My last place of employment at a middle school helped me to realize even more how much there is a need for what I do now. As an educational assistant, a lot of the students in my class would come to me and talk about anything. Some of those things were school related and some of those things weren’t. Overall I learned that many times they just needed someone to talk to, but most importantly listen. It started off with my students, but then their friends and other students starting coming to me as well, doing the same thing. Unfortunately, the lock down happened due to the pandemic, but I still wanted to make a difference and that’s where I am today. I took what I did within those walls and continued it at home with the ability to reach even more children.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Certified Life Coach that provides personal development coaching for girls ages 6 to 18. I offer one to one coaching, group coaching and monthly workshops. I firmly believe that it takes a village to raise children so I always work with not only the girls that I work with, but their parents and guardians as well. In working together, everyone is on the same page and it provides a greater chance of success in seeing goals met and progress and growth that lasts.
I am most proud when my clients see their own growth. It can be difficult to see when change happens to yourself because you are what you see and experience everyday. You know you’ve really grown when not only others can see your progress, but when you can too!
How did you build your audience on social media?
As we all know social media is huge. Not only is it huge, but it can also provide many opportunities. One of those opportunities is getting your brand out there and making others aware of you and what you do. The thing is that so many people are on there. There are so many businesses out there, some who may be doing what you do. It can be easy to get caught up in what others are doing and to compare. However, when that happens, you lose YOU and try to take on or be someone you’re not. That’s not the purpose and neither is that the goal. This world needs YOU, not you trying to be someone else. All in all, there is nothing wrong with growing and adjusting as necessary, but make sure you stay genuine and true to who you are because at the end of the day, that’s what people really want to see.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was to do things inside of the box. As comfortable as that is, nothing great ever happens there and usually typical things happen. However, with what I do and the girls that I work with I cannot operate solely inside of the box, if at all. Although, there may be similarities there are also differences with each individual. What may work for one, may not work for the other. The message may be the same, but the presentation may need to be different in the way that it is given. When I’m in that position, I have to think outside of the box and that’s what I’ll continue to do to ensure that I am not only reaching them, but doing so effectively.
