We recently connected with Tiffany Lewis and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
In 2018 I started a virtual assistant business because I was overwhelmed by my teaching career and personal life as a wife and mom of 3 littles ranging in ages 4 to 8. While I had no idea what I was doing, I knew that my business HAD to have meaning and purpose. I knew that I wanted to specifically serve other women in their businesses AND use my business as a starting point to creating a legacy for my family (and generations to come).
As I grew as an entrepreneur, my mission became deeper – I became passionate about using my gifts (writing – I pivoted from VA to Copywriter in 2019) to help other women entrepreneurs use their voice to make the biggest impact possible.
Today, the Propel Virtual Solutions mission also includes carving a path for my children that I didn’t have growing up in a single-parent household in Atlanta. So, not only is my daily work led by my desire to impact other women-owned businesses, but also to create a legacy that changes the socio-economic landscape for my children, future generations, and community.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2018, I was working as a virtual assistant. It was a fulfilling role, but deep down, I had a burning desire to pursue a business in writing. I’ve always been passionate about crafting words and telling stories, so I decided to take a leap of faith and transition into the field of copywriting. I took the plunge and immersed myself in learning everything I could about copywriting, from studying persuasive techniques to honing my writing skills.
Just as I was gaining momentum in my new business model, the world was hit by the unexpected wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many others, I had to face the immense challenges it presented. As a business owner, mother of three, and teacher navigating the world of remote learning, my plate was overflowing with responsibilities.
During those trying times, I had to adapt and pivot once again. With the sudden shift to remote work and the increased demand for digital content, I seized the opportunity to offer my copywriting services to businesses in need. I leveraged my skills and experience to help clients create engaging online content, refine their marketing strategies, and adapt to the changing business landscape.
Balancing my roles as a business owner, mother, and teacher was no small feat. There were countless moments of juggling deadlines, attending to my children’s educational needs, and finding time for self-care. However, with determination and a strong support system, I managed to navigate through the storm.
The experience of pivoting from a virtual assistant to a copywriter, eventually leaving my teaching career, and facing the challenges of the pandemic has been a true rollercoaster ride. It taught me the importance of being adaptable, resilient, and open to new opportunities.
Today, I am proud to say that my career as a copywriter has flourished. I’ve had the privilege of working with inspiring clients, crafting compelling messages, and making a meaningful impact with my words. While the journey was filled with twists and turns, it was through these pivots that I found my true calling and discovered the strength within me to overcome obstacles.
So, remember, even in the face of uncertainty, never be afraid to pivot and pursue your passions. Life has a way of leading us down unexpected paths, and it is in those moments of transition that we can truly grow and thrive.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the habit of listening to my inner mean girl, and the journey to overcome it required perseverance and faith.
The backstory begins with a time in my life when I constantly criticized myself, doubted my abilities, and allowed negative self-talk to consume my thoughts. This inner mean girl, as I came to call it, would berate me with harsh judgments, highlighting every flaw and mistake. It created a toxic cycle of self-sabotage and hindered my personal growth and happiness.
Recognizing the detrimental impact of my inner mean girl was the first step towards unlearning this lesson. I realized that the thoughts and beliefs I held about myself were not rooted in truth but were distorted perceptions influenced by past experiences, societal pressures, and comparison with others. It was a difficult realization, but it opened the door to change.
Quieting my inner mean girl required perseverance and a commitment to self-improvement, and lots of therapy! I actively worked on shifting my mindset, challenging negative thoughts, and replacing them with positive and empowering affirmations. This process involved consciously monitoring my self-talk, questioning its validity, and reframing negative statements into constructive ones.
Additionally, I sought support from loved ones, mentors, and professionals who could provide guidance and encouragement along the way. Surrounding myself with positive influences and engaging in activities that boosted my self-esteem also played a crucial role in the unlearning process.
However, the journey was not without its setbacks. There were times when my inner mean girl resurfaced, tempting me to fall back into old patterns of self-doubt and criticism. During those moments, faith became an essential component. I had to believe in my ability to change, trust the process, and have faith in my own worth and potential and that I am indeed created in God’s image.
With perseverance and faith, I gradually silenced my inner mean girl. I learned to treat myself with kindness, compassion, and understanding. I discovered that self-love and self-acceptance were not selfish but essential for personal growth and overall well-being.
The unlearning process taught me that negative self-talk is a habit that can be broken, and it doesn’t define my true worth. It reminded me of the power I possess to rewrite my inner narrative and cultivate a mindset that uplifts and empowers me. Most importantly, it reinforced the importance of perseverance and faith in overcoming challenges and embracing self-love.
